Between the years of 1979 and 1981 about 29 African American children, teens, and adults were kidnapped and murdered in the city of Atlanta. After months of pushing from the mothers of these children eventually the Atlanta Police Department, the Georgia Bureau of Investigations, and the FBI form a missing and murdered children's task force where they theorize that the killings of the majority of these individuals are the work of a serial killer. In this episode Tay tells the story of the completely senseless murder of Honorah Parker committed by her own daughter Pauline and her best friend Juliet Hulme. The two girls met earlier in the year of 1954 and quickly became fast friends, bonding over the social isolation and shared childhood illnesses. But this fast friendship quickly turned from just two socially awkward girls finding solace in each other to becoming obsessed with each other and began to share the same mental illnesses and delusions. These two girls ended up suffering from a horrible case of "madness of two" and under their delusions mistakenly came to believe that the only way they could be together was to kill Pauline's mother. In this episode Tay discusses the case of Kate Webster and the gruesome murder of her employer Mrs. Julia Martha Thomas. Webster was a career criminal and childhood thief who after getting out of jail took a position as Thomas' maid in March of 1879. Within the month she was fired and instead of leaving as asked she stayed and waited for her former employer to return home to kill her. In this episode Tay discusses the horrific 26 year human trafficking epidemic in Tennessee in the 1920's to 1950's due to one horrific mastermind Georgia Tann. Tann at the time she was committing these crimes was running a state run orphanage and touring the country encouraging wealthy people to "adopt" children from her. However, these children were stolen and kidnapped from poor families to be used for a for profit scam where her and a network of politicians, lawyers, police officers, nurses, doctors, social workers, and a judge made millions off of trafficking over 5,000 children.
