In this episode of the teen and tween parenting podcast we talk about why harshness happens at home for communities which are marginalized and oppressed and the need to do the exact opposite at home with a warm, loving and fun environment so they are confident and secure enough to take on the challenges and equipped to change it.  Otherwise they generally will feel angry, insecure and unsafe. 

We also talk about coaching my much younger cousin in jail to manage his mind and know there are some things that he has control over even in that very volatile environment.  He is able to decide how he wants to show up and who he wants to become.

It's my birthday!!!  Woohoo 57 years old and going after my biggest life possible and want to take you along with me. 

Back from Nome and my whole family is Covid positive and quarantining and I have to find a temporary home.  I am at my parents house which is the quickest way for me to return to the feelings of my early childhood. The other easy way to quickly return to the feeling of your early childhood is to have children.  If given the right mind-set and coaching these can become opportunities to work on feelings and not repeat childhood and generational trauma.  

I also talk about how every interaction we have has an impact that we can often not know or realize for a long time to come which means there is no "throw away" behavior and that we get to be intentional about how we interact with people.
