Wake talked over John 12:20-36 emphasising the need for Christains to make sure that every part of their life is dead to worldly desire. He began by encouraging everyone to evaluate the various aspects of their lives by the fruit of the Spirit.  If we have our lives submitted to the Spirit, the fruit should shine through in all aspects.

Mary's anointing of Jesus provides a picture of true worship of God while the reactions of Judas and the jewish leaders illustrate the destructive consequences of worshipping other things ahead of God.

The story of Lazarus in John 11 reveals many examples of people whose view of Jesus is not entirely accurate.  This is common throughout the gospels.  We need to humbly recognze that our view of Jesus is incomplete and will likely never be perfectly accurate in this life.  However, it will evolve and grow as we seek to know him better and as we walk through life with him

Wake preaches over John 11 using the strategy taught by David Platt. Jesus knew that the sickness would not end in death and was glade that he was not there when Lazarus died.  Yet, when he arrived, Jesus cryed at the pain of his friends and at the sorrow of death which was never meant to be part of his creation.

In John 10:22-42 the Jews ask Jesus to tell them clearly whether he is the Messiah, the earthly deliverer.  Jesus answers that he has both told them and shown them that he is the Messiah, Emanuel, the deliverer from sin and death.  That is not the Messiah they wanted.  Is Jesus the Messiah you want?

Jesus said, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me."  Their response is to worship him.  Ken uses many illustrations form the Christmas story to illustrate these principles.

Wake discusses John 10:1-22, explaining the importance of the sheep fold in Jesus day and correlating it to the christain life

John 9 paints a picture of two kinds of blindness: the physical blindness of the man born blind and the spiritual blindness of the Pharisees.  God uses physical hardship like blindness to display his works, to work his character in us and to advance his kingdom.  Although physical blindness involves hardship in this life, the spiritual blindness of the Pharisees, which can aflict any us in varying degrees, is eternally dangerous.

Wake discusses John 8:12-59.  The Pharisees were repeatedly exposed to the truth about Jesus: through his words, his miracles and ultimately through the signs associated with his death and resurrection.  However they missed the truth about Jesus because he did not meet their conditions.  Where and why do we refuse to accept the truth that will set us free?

Ken discusses John 7:38-8:11.  The people who listened to Jesus heard different things depending upon the preconceptions that they had.  Jesus said the Law and the Prophets revealed him but the Pharisees missed it because they were using scripture to condemn others and justify themselves, instead of being convicted by it and driven to seek grace and mercy.
