Stranger Things 5 just premiered this past weekend. Netflix’s juggernaut was one that spearheaded a deluge of films and tv set in the 1980s. Troy Brownfield and I have long nit pickled at historical accuracies in pop culture the show likes to celebrate. With that in mind, we thought it would be a fun exercise to look back at more what the midwest 1980s was REALLY like in terms of what people were watching and listening to and then turn our efforts to see which film and television shows that set themselves in that era got it the most “right”.
