On this episode of the Film Sessions Podcast, we are excited to feature Rudraroop Sengupta:

“Hi, I am an Independent filmmaker and Screenwriter from Kolkata, India. Most of my films have elements of Magic realism and Political unrest intertwined as the core part of the narrative. I graduated as a Computer Engineer and also did Corporate jobs for 7 years. However, my love and passion for cinema were always there, which compelled me to leave my job and start making films. "The White Book" , a political satire was my first film. This film was written by me and was co-directed by my childhood friend. It got selected for many prestigious film festivals in India and abroad. This film is also shown on the prestigious UK film channel. I have done my Diploma in filmmaking from one of the oldest and most renowned filmmaking institutes in Eastern India - "National Institute of Film and Fine Arts". I have written and directed several other short films, Docu Dramas, Web Series, and Awareness Films. I am the founder of Axial Films. My silent political 3-minute film "United Residency Enclave" was highly appreciated and won few awards. Another film "I phone, Poetry and Bread" has won several national and international awards and has been showcased in many prestigious festivals. been part of some Right now working on an International collaboration as a Writer and Editor with the Austrian film "Chords from the Past" directed by Marc Berger.”

On this episode of the Film Sessions Podcast, we are excited to feature Damjan Paunković:

“I recently finished film editing studies at Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade and I work as a video editor on Radio Television of Serbia. I see filmmaking as a great way to express more or less abstract ideas in intuitive manner. Some topics that don't sound important when spoken of can have a great impact when they're shown. That is something I would like to pursue in filmmaking and something I tried to accomplish with 'Diagnosis' and 'Paw', my previous short film. ”

  • Daphne TARGOTAY: Inspirational Interview

On this episode of the Film Sessions Podcast, we are excited to feature Daphne TARGOTAY:

“"I am a French-Turkish filmmaker, I studied Fine arts and Video in France, Greece and Turkey.

I studied in various fields, starting with biology, then moving on to visual arts studies in sculpture, installation, ceramics, photography, video and cinema.

Immigration has always been part of my family history and is a recurring theme in my films and art work. For Stories Archipelago, I have chosen to speak about it without a frontal point of view, in a more metaphorical way, presenting a poetic portrait of an island in the Mediterranean - the scene of one of the most terrible deaths of this century - island whose modern legends echo with its past history.

This film was produced in collaboration with the international research group of which I'm a member: ""Fixer l'archipel"", which organizes video residencies throughout the Mediterranean, funded by the French Ministry of Culture and supported by the PACA region and local organizations.

So I want to do more with video and cinema, build narratives and address issues that are really important to me, such as access to freedom for people around the world, through the production of poetic and metaphorical content and the study of these issues at the same time.

I want to remain connected to the tangible world, to address everyone with my artworks and films, because I believe that cinema is a great tool to communicate ideas and reflections to a wider audience.

I look forward to the day when everyone, from journalists to filmmakers, from artists to audiences, will be able to express themselves in the same free way.

Long live art, long live cinema !"”

  • Aidan Alcala: Inspirational Interview

On this episode of the Film Sessions Podcast, we are excited to feature Aidan Alcala:

“My name is Aidan Alcala. I'm a young filmmaker from Austin, Texas. I've been studying film at McCallum High School in their cinematic arts program for the past 4 years, and I have just recently graduated from there. I’m still trying to find my style, but I really like finding visual ways to put the audience into the character's head space. From feeling alone in a wide shot, to feeling vulnerable in a close up, these visual elements are things I find fun to experiment with.

My friend and music composer, Jonas Richardson, who will be joining us on this podcast has made the music for all my films. He made all the music in Write What You Know, except for the song in the party scene. I love his sound, and I hope we can continue working on films together. ”

This episode was hosted by Ashalia Dawkins, a Podcast Host at the Student World Impact Film Festival, and produced by Mark Leschinsky, the Festival Director of the Student World Impact Film Festival.
