Filmed Obscura

Happy belated Halloween friends.  This is your October episode swinging in one day late.  Apologies but the grappling hook was misplaced and the children invaded the boys for treats.  Now it's live and ready for your ears.  What halloween movie did the boys pick?  Why only one of Cannon's best and most bonkers--Ninja III: The Domination.  This gem of a movie has everything you want: ninjas, possession, flying swords, Sho Kosugi, ninjas on golf courses, 80s awesomeness, Aquanet, you name it.  Don't believe us, give it a listen.  You won't be disappointed.  So go on, grab those ninja inspired beverages and buckle up, it's Ninja III: The Domination time.

Bruno Mattei alert.  Copyright Infringement alert (not by Filmed Obscura, of course).  It's rip off time!  Welcome back for the perfect "summer's over" movie.  Actually, it's more of the perfect summer movie, but the boys had to do Night Killer first.  This month, Chris chose one of the most notorious Jaws rip off movies of all time to spotlight and let's be honest, it lived up to the reputation.  So much so that Evan had to seek outside counsel after watching it.  What film you ask?  Why it's Cruel Jaws...also known as Jaws 5: Cruel Jaws.  The boys watched the Severin release of the film which included two cuts.  The version being discussed here is the Mattei Cut.  So please, keep that in mind.  It's no Jaws, or Jaws 4: The Revenge, or The Last Shark, or Deep Blood...but know it has footage from all of those included.  Pour your beverage now...it's time to swim.

Okay...so let's be frank.  This is one of the more surprising films of the season, at least from Justin's perspective, because it's not that bad.  It's Claudio Fragasso, the director of Troll 2, and it's not that bad.  It has a twist that Chris didn't even realize.  Not that bad.      The mask and glove...okay they're bad.  But the film isn't.  What film you say?  Why that film is Night Killer.  Oh yes, Night Killer.  That about sums it up...

Let's try this again.  For all who noticed, Ep. 42 dropped in late July but had to be removed due to technical issues.  Apologies for the confusion.  Justin's computer issues continue to haunt him like the children in this film.  Notwithstanding, it's back up.  Joe Brady is back.  Kids are killing people.  Anarchy ensues.  Adults are killing children.  It's bonkers.  So, without further delay, please enjoy Beware! Children at Play.  Grab that moonshine...cheers!  Thank you for your patience.

Happy summer friends!  Thank you for returning again for another fantastic episode.  Fighting against technical issues that have been plaguing Justin to no end, Joe Brady is back for another round of color commentating on Chris' pick this month.  It's a redneck masterpiece of absurdity:  Beware! Children at Play.  That's right folks.  It's got it all.  Trust us.  Grab that moonshine or Schlitz and enjoy the perversion.

It IS about time the boys do an Amityville film, and nothing came more recommended for an obscure, fun pick than Tony Randel's (Hellbound:  Hellraiser 2) entry in the long running series.  Full of mounted clocks, randomness, abandoned plots and phantom bite wounds, this movie delivers the goods.  It is Filmed Obscura approved?  Well...the Amityville beer was.  Grab some more beverages and enjoy the clock-filled terror.  Cheers!!!

It's the 40th episode of Filmed Obscura.  Hell yeah!!!  The boys are super excited to bring you this fun-filled episode full of random phone calls, 80s slasher tropes, Busch beer, Star Trek and more tangents than you asked for.  It's the second episode of Season 6 and Chris picked the flawed, yet entertaining Slaughter High.  The movie didn't reinvent the slasher film, or turn the world on it's head, but it has some solid kills.  As always, grab your beverage and enjoy the second film offering in March.  Justin and Chris will be back to the normal monthly schedule in April.  Cheers!

We are on social media...and based on my Twitter comments, we're still bad at it.

Happy February friends...oh crap!  It's actually March; damn you short month.  Well, I guess the boys will be doing two episodes this month.  Welcome to the Season 6 premiere of Filmed Obscura.  The boys made it to 39 episodes and now their bringing some fun horror movies to the mix.  This season, Chris and Justin will be tackling goofy, fun horror movies.  It's a horror-centric season but the films will be uber fun.  In fact, NOTHING like Season 4.  For the premiere, Justin picked a loving tribute to films like The Evil Dead, Demons and Night of the Demons.  It's got demons.  It's got campy characters. It's got wind.  Sort of?  Get ready for Demon Wind.  There might be angels...and lots of tangents.  Sorry, but enjoy!

We are on social media, but as you'll see, we're really bad at it.

Greetings all and welcome to the tail end of January.  Justin and Chris have a banger for you all this episode for the Season 5 finale.  It's the perfect mix of what was fun this past season, and a great precursor for what's to come.  There is also a special guest joining us and he brought the goods.  What film and guest you say?  Why it's Miami Connection in all it's 80s glory, with frequent listener and friend; first time guest David Wahab.  Get those Florida beers ready...you're going to love this one!  Cheers!

We are on social media, but don't worry about us...watch Miami Connection!  Do it!

Happy Holidays friends! Chris and Justin made it just in time for Christmas.  Here is the ultimate episode of Christmas cheer…featuring a terrifying movie. Just kidding! The boys tackled a Hallmark movie for the first time and counted down their top 5 watches of 2022.  It’s The Spirit of Christmas.  Of course, nobody can forget the ongoing Holiday Special tradition. You’ll hear it in the beginning and you can watch it here: https://youtu.be/96PaQyRfNnI

We are on social media and so are our short filmmaking endeavors!
