Episode 15 is here!  Justin and Chris return for the first "proper" episode of 2021 and Justin roped his wife Jana into joining the fun for the first movie.  Spoiler alert!  She didn't hate it.  Of course that movie is Nightmare Beach (or Welcome to Spring Break).  Chris gives by far his best introduction to this interesting work, and describing the film as "fun" is pretty spot on.  Next up is the indie anthology about a killer clown called All Hallow's Eve.  For those who like the violent stylings of Art the Clown will enjoy this discussion since it's the predecessor to Art's feature length gorefest Terrifier.  Perhaps not as visceral, this anthology gives the audience a glimpse into the director's style and talent, and foreshadows some grisly kills along the way.  Now just hit play.

Season Finale alert! YES! Boy are you listeners in for a treat.  Justin and Chris bring along Filmed Obscura friend and special guest John Langdon on a vicious journey through two uber violent and intriguing films.  First up is the New French Extremity film Frontier(s) directed by Xavier Gens.  There's perceived political subtext, content that would make the Sawyer family proud, and a table saw.  Let's just leave that right there.  Next is the French Canadian thriller Seven Days.  Chris has done it again.  Directed by Daniel Grou (Podz), this film brings new meaning to sobering, somber, purposefully paced cinema.  It's impeccably shot, harsh, gory and unforgettable.  With the exception of Justin's rants and f-bombs, there are some good conversations in this one.  Grab your beer and give your ears a treat.

What do the Filmed Obscura boys have in store for you this time around?  Well...they have a Spanish slasher film that has been virtually lost in VHS purgatory until Arrow Releasing got a hold of it.  They also discuss a fairly obscure Giallo/Police Procedural that blends solid mystery elements, decent kills, and unexpected/really unnecessary shocks (you'll know when you hear it). So please, sit back and enjoy Edge of the Axe and My Dear Killer.  Also, Filmed Obscura's previous guest Joe Brady returns for another "Pop Quiz Hotshot" that pits Chris and Justin against each other.  The category names alone are fantastic!  Until the next one...

Welcome back to the tenth episode of Filmed Obscura.  SPOILER ALERT warranted here.  The second film, Kill List, should not now or ever be spoiled for people who haven't watched it so PLEASE do not continue listening if you haven't seen it...unless you don't care about the ending.  Justin and Chris combine that, ahead of its time, horror thriller with an obscure, fantastic giallo/slasher called Double Exposure.  If you are looking for a quality 80s slice of aggressive womanizing and killing models with pool items, this movie is for you.  Both films combined nicely for a pretty cool episode.  We hope you feel the same way.

Oh man!  Chris and Justin are throwing a curve ball with this episode.  Normally, the boys focus their rants and tangents on obscure horror and thriller movies but this time, they are diving into one of horror elite's offerings in the Spaghetti Western genre:  Lucio Fulci's Four of the Apocalypse.  It's violent, gritty, dirty and quite interesting.  It fits rather nicely into Fulci's eclectic mix of films.  After that, they discuss an uber obscure, arthouse slasher from the 90s that exists in a world all its own:  Star Time.  This entry is even more interesting...but for different reasons.  Tune in to find out the Filmed Obscura thoughts.  Special shout out to Josh Pryor for the substitute intro song this month:  Josey Wales.  It fit the episode so nicely.  Enjoy!

The country is struggling right now.  There is nothing that we can say that will make things better or heal those in pain.  Taking action is a step forward.  Listening to podcasts is not a priority.  However, we believe that decompressing is vital to eliminating the negativity that many face.  Perhaps that is precisely when a new episode would help.  The Filmed Obscura boys watched some more obscure genre fare and rambled on for your entertainment.  First up is the Belgium film Let the Corpses Tan.  It's fantastic and "arthouse" galore.  Next is the Australian thriller movie known as The Horseman.  For revenge movie fans and people who like bleak cinema, this is right up your alley.  Stay safe and aware everybody.  Thanks again for listening.  :) Justin and Chris
