The country is struggling right now. There is nothing that we can say that will make things better or heal those in pain. Taking action is a step forward. Listening to podcasts is not a priority. However, we believe that decompressing is vital to eliminating the negativity that many face. Perhaps that is precisely when a new episode would help. The Filmed Obscura boys watched some more obscure genre fare and rambled on for your entertainment. First up is the Belgium film Let the Corpses Tan. It's fantastic and "arthouse" galore. Next is the Australian thriller movie known as The Horseman. For revenge movie fans and people who like bleak cinema, this is right up your alley. Stay safe and aware everybody. Thanks again for listening. :) Justin and Chris

Double Feature Podcast Alert! Chris and Justin are back with another commentary track! Honestly, it's a great excuse to watch more movies and drink beer. They also brought their longtime friend and podcasting colleague Joe Brady (You Should Watch) to join the fun. The boys picked an interesting one this time. Perhaps not "obscure" in the traditional sense, this film is a mystery to most moviegoers. That's right, the boys discuss the Limp Bizkit approved, John Travolta starring obsession tale known as The Fanatic. Maybe you saw it on Prime. No better time than the present to discover it, crack an IPA, and enjoy the banter. Just don't forget your leather vest.

Welcome to Season 2 of Filmed Obscura. Where the films get more obscure and the banter more ridiculous. Thank you for coming back! We hope everybody is safe and healthy during these tough times. As bleak as things continue to appear, they won't stop Justin and Chris from battling online glitches and continuing to hit the record button for more listening fun. That being said, they brought along another special guest for the season premiere: longtime friend and fellow podcaster (You Should Watch) Joe Brady. Coming straight from guest starring on our second special commentary episode, and re-launching his own podcast (co-hosted by Filmed Obscura's own Chris Herdter), Joe crashed this pod with commentary gold about the two films we watched. First up is a lesser known Lucio Fulci work, previously difficult to find on physical media, known as Murderock: Dancing Death. The second is an obscure 80s slasher/mental illness horror yarn known as Nightmare. So please...sit back, crack a local beer, and enjoy the Season 2 premiere.

This is no April Fool's prank. The season finale of Filmed Obscura is here, and Justin and Chris brought along a special guest to join in the fun: Evan Przebowski. To say he added another level of fun to the podcast is an understatement. Up first is the independent zombie/virus/action flick known as Zombie with a Shotgun. While the opinions differed on this one, there was no denying its heart and indie spirit. Then comes an extremely obscure horror short known as Aftermath. Yeah...the content alone will offend the casual viewer but we kinda liked it. So please enjoy, accept our sincere thanks for listening, and get ready for Season 2. Coming soon once human contact is allowed.
Find us on the socials for non-human interaction and mediocre content...by Justin anyway...and NO desecrating bodies. Shame.

The current environment is certainly scary right now with a specific viral threat plaguing the world. Sometimes it's good to sit back and watch a movie to take your mind off the stress. Chris and Justin did just that with their first commentary track recorded in isolation. Please tune in, crack a beverage, and enjoy Filmed Obscura's tangent filled viewing of Jeremy Saulnier's Murder Party. Cardboard knights rule!!!
Find us on social media. We should post more about cardboard knights. Hmmm...

Welcome to Episode 5 of Filmed Obscura. Spring is on the horizon and so are cult members and hockey masked gentlemen. Justin and Chris dive into a previously obscure, yet popular, Sergio Martino feature titled All the Colors of the Dark before discussing a true slice of English, independent delight known only as Unmasked Pt. 25. Both films were truly a pleasure to watch with nice details, atmosphere and gore. Tune in and find out the specifics while sticking around for the random tangents. Full disclosure: if you like the random dog noises or interference, they were minimal this time. Eeyore was well-behaved.

Chris and Justin rant about two gems in Episode 4. The first is Brian De Palma's wonderful and crazy homage to Faust and Phantom of the Opera known only as Phantom of the Paradise. The second is a truly obscure, modern giallo that bleeds 70s nostalgia: Luciano Onetti's Francesca. Break out your silver helmets and red leather gloves because this is a good one. Enjoy!

Justin and Chris dive into the world of body horror and religious exploitation with the films discussed in this episode. The first is a Baltimore gem by excellent independent filmmakers Chris LaMartina and Jimmy George called Call Girl of Cthulhu. It stars Melissa LaMartina and needs to be discovered by all. Now! The second is an infamous film from the 70s that has such a thick notoriety and limited release (including various different cuts of the film) that viewers may not be sure they are watching the best version. This is The Devils, starring Oliver Reed and Vanessa Redgrave, and directed by Ken Russell. We appreciate the lending of your ears.
Find us on social media. We found the real version of The Devils. No, really...

Chris and Justin discuss two very different films this time around. One is an obscure nunsploitation work by famed, or infamous, Italian director Bruno Mattei known as The Other Hell. The second is a solid piece of British thriller cinema--Dead Man's Shoes. We both geeked out over the latter but Chris was especially excited. Enjoy and thanks for listening!

Justin and Chris introduce the podcast with one of the most controversial and difficult movies ever filmed, admired and released: Salo, or the 120 Days of Sodom. After taking in all the poop filled wonder of that film, they move onto a milder, yet visually stunning and highly entertaining, Italian gem known as The Wax Mask.
If you'd like to, find us on social media. There is no poop eating. We promise.
