Josh Wigler (@roundhoward) and Brooklyn Zed (@hardrockhope) are junctioning themselves to a new Final Fantasy experience: FF8.

Post Show Recaps presents “Final Fantasy,” a very creatively named podcast series in which Josh introduces his friend Zed to the best video game series of all time. Best, of course, is a relative term …

Following their deep-dive into all things FF7, Josh and Zed now embark on “Final Fantasy 8.” In FF8, the player assumes the role of brooding bad boy Squall Leonhart and his fellow members of SeeD: students at the local Garden by day, globe-trotting soldiers by … also day. It’s one of the more controversial installments in “Final Fantasy,” but as the successor to FF7, it’s the next natural step for Josh and Zed’s tour through the series. So draw some magic, don’t forget to junction a Guardian Force, and get ready for a ride.

In this week’s podcast, Josh and Zed are on a mission to take out the sorceress supreme, Edea. As it turns out, the plot to kill Edea is a very bad idea.

If you want to play along while you listen to the podcast journey, “Final Fantasy VIII” is available on various platforms: Nintendo Switch, PS4, Steam and even the original PSX version, assuming you, like Zed, still have an old-school system.

This podcast covers the beginning of the game through the invasion of a town called Dollet.

Post Show Recaps presents “Final Fantasy,” a very creatively named podcast series in which Josh introduces his friend Zed to the best video game series of all time. Best, of course, is a relative term …

Following a 10-part deep-dive into all things FF7, Josh and Zed now embark on “Final Fantasy VIII.” In FF8, the player assumes the role of brooding bad boy Squall Lionhart and his fellow members of SeeD: students at the local Garden by day, globe-trotting soldiers by … also day. In this week’s podcast, Josh and Zed start with one last look back at FF7, as Zed is now well and truly finished with the game. Then, Josh makes Zed take a test about FF8 as a means of learning more about what’s ahead.

If you want to play along while you listen to the podcast journey, “Final Fantasy VIII” is available on various platforms: Nintendo Switch, PS4, Steam and even the original PSX version, assuming you, like Zed, still have an old-school system.

Final Fantasy VII, Recap Part 10 | The End
Josh Wigler (@roundhoward) and his “Mole Patrol” co-host Brooklyn Zed (@hardrockhope), aka Zed XIII, get together to talk about the seminal video game “Final Fantasy VII.” There’s just one catch: Josh has played “Final Fantasy VII” dozens of times; this is Zed’s first trip to Midgar.
It’s a podcast designed for longtime “Final Fantasy” fans and newcomers alike — in fact, it’s for people who have always wanted to know the story of “Final Fantasy VII,” but have no interest or ability to play the game itself. If that describes you, you’re in luck. As Zed makes their way through their first playthrough of “Final Fantasy VII,” they will be stopping by this very podcast spot with Wigler to talk through the storyline, the game mechanics, and much more as tremendous shenanigans ensue.
For the uninitiated: “Final Fantasy VII” was a groundbreaking 1997 Japanese role-playing game that defined the video game medium, let alone the RPG genre and the “Final Fantasy” franchise writ large. It centers on Cloud Strife, a sword-wielding mercenary with a troubled past, as he joins up with members of a resistance group called AVALANCHE set on toppling a nefarious power-hungry corporation called Shinra. Many friends and enemies are made in the process, as Cloud and his allies uncover the truth about Shinra’s intentions and even more chilling details about old magic permeating the planet.

In this week’s podcast, Josh and Zed finish “Final Fantasy VII.” What’s more, they even touch on some of the other games and movies that came afterward. Plus, they announce their next adventure. Listen in!

If you want to play along while you listen to the podcast journey, “Final Fantasy VII” is available on various platforms: Nintendo Switch, PS4, Steam and even the original PSX version, assuming you, like Zed, still have an old-school system.

Of course, there’s also “Final Fantasy VII Remake,” the next gen spin on the classic game which was released in 2020. Wigler and Ken Hoang hosted podcasts about that game; find them here.

In this week’s podcast, Josh and Zed embark on all the game’s additional bells and whistles. It’s the sidequests podcast! This is all in service of what’s coming next week: the final push through “Final Fantasy VII.”
