Asian and European equity markets followed the carnage in the US, posting losses in the 2%-5% range. However, US markets stabilised somewhat, the S&P500 currently down only 0.4%, although the VIX barometer of risk aversion remains elevated. US bond yields rebounded, while the US dollar is little changed.
