  • Trailer for #42 Money Blocks Do Not Exist!

When it comes to our relationship with money, we do not become blocked. We just stop, or maybe never even start, taking the action that we need to, in order to grow our money or our business. What block is there? There is no physical, actual block…it is just something that you are telling yourself. The excuse you have created, to avoid doing the thing that you don’t want to do.

Join me in this episode as I discuss Money Blocks and how to move forward and transform your relationship with money.

    Key Takeaways

It is the limiting decisions that you have consciously or subconsciously taken, that is causing you to not take action, not any block.

Our relationship with money is completely intertwined with our relationship with ourselves. It is your sense of self belief, self worth, self confidence, and self esteem. These are the things that are causing you to feel less than and which prevents you from having a successful relationship with money, not any blocks.

Taking action is always the key to moving forward.

A money block is not a block. It is a limiting decision that you have taken as a result of a limiting belief you have about yourself

If you are saying to yourself that you have a money block, stop saying it.

Instead take action, work out what action will move you forward, identify why you have not taken that action till now. Then commit to doing it anyway. Taking that action will feel far less scary than you have built it up to be.

  • #41 Emma Khan – What is Your Money Story?

Emma is a landscape and portrait photographer and Project Manager in the advertising industry. She started travelling at the age of 18 and hasn’t stopped since. Whilst living in Sweden in 2017, she realised she enjoyed being in the colder climates and attended a photography workshop in Greenland. This became the catalyst to changes she has since been making to her career as she was completely inspired by the Arctic, which changed her way of thinking about how we look after the environment.

Having had over twenty years of experience in the advertising industry in London, she is now transitioning to becoming a full-time photographer, focused on capturing the benefits of being in nature - cold-water swimming, the oceans and Arctic and getting involved in scientific expeditions, which is where her passion lies.

    Key takeaways

Our relationship with money is more about our relationship with ourselves; our sense of self confidence and self worth.

Seeing the art of the possible allows you to become confident in your ability, and help you recognise opportunities that there are opportunities out there for you. Which in result up space in your head to be creative, be resourceful, and be solution focused.

In this frantic world, allow yourself to have a ‘grace of space’ to just sit, think, reflect, and not necessarily always constantly be hunched up with those feelings of fear. Because fear just breeds more fear.

It’s in those moments of almost clarity, that gives us the ability to go, it's going to be okay, I know I've got this. I'm not going to force it. I'm not going to push it.

Start planning ahead, start seeing, and start taking small steps.

  • #40 In The Face Of Adversity

Episode 40 is a slightly different episode. I usually plan out the content of my solo episodes, but this one is straight off the cuff and directly from the heart.

The news is full of stories about the war in Ukraine, the cost of living crisis and debate about whether we are heading towards a global recession, or indeed already in recession.

In the episode I want to share my philosophy and approach to more difficult times. Why in times like these, we need to respond and not react. How we need to operate from a resourceful and abundant mindset, which will allow us to be at our most creative and be solution focussed, rather reliant on the actions, or inactions of others.

    Key Takeaways

With the current situation happening a the moment, it’s important to remember that there have been similar situations in the past. This too will pass.

Choose to have a perspective of a resourceful mindset. It's an important aim to find solutions for ourselves rather than relying on somebody else, or some external factor coming to save us.

Be in a position of planning and base your plans on the set of circumstances that you are presented with. Look at each of these situations, from the perspective of what can I do to support myself? What can I do to support my family? And what can I do to support those around me?

Actively choose not to wallow in the what ifs.

You can choose to react, or you can choose to respond. And that is the difference of a scarcity versus an abundant mindset.

In an abundant mindset, you’ll have the best ability to be resourceful and the best ability to really connect with the art of the possible. Whilst with the scarcity mindset, we shut ourselves off from having the ability to tap into our creativity, because fight or flight takes over.

Being in a state of fear and panic and worry isn't going to change the external situation. Focus on what you can do from a resourceful perspective, solution lead perspective, and respond in the right way.

  • #38 What Is Your Underlying Need?

In this episode I talk about the underlying needs about money. For some of us money is something to be chased and hoarded. For others, it's something to be spent and got rid of as soon as it turned, and for others money is something to be avoided at all costs. No matter what our relationship with money is, there's usually an underlying need for this driving our behaviour. Join me as I explore what drives behind the need about money.

    Key takeaways

Usually the underlying need is one these; the need for love, the need for security/to feel safe, need for approval, and need for significance.

It's so important to be able to pinpoint where your particular need resides. By identifying your needs, you will be able to really understand how it is affecting how you show up in the world.

It is never our limiting beliefs we need to be overly concerned with because you can ‘feel the fear and do it anyway’. But the limiting decisions that we take, as a result of the limiting belief.

  • #37 Louisa Jovanovich – What is Your Money Story?

In this episode I talk with Louisa Jovanovich, the founder of Connect with Source and co-author of two best selling books.

After many years in the beauty industry as a hairdresser in high end salons, she experienced first-hand the constant ‘comparisonitis’ and lack of faith in their own expertise that was happening at all levels in the industry, right up through the ranks of salon owner.

This lack of confidence and not owning their self-worth effected their earning capacity and quality of life. And she was no different. But she knew that something had to change.

She now works with entrepreneurs and business owners to help them identify their blindspots, and breakthrough their limiting beliefs so that they can access a life and business they’ve only dreamed of.

    Key Takeaways

Identifying the limiting beliefs Louisa has grown accustomed to growing up allowed her to become more self aware and realise that these limiting beliefs manifest in her life and affect her choices and outlook.

When Louisa went into Leadership work, she focused working on her overall mindset which has helped her turn her scarcity mentality to abundance mindset.

When asked about implementing independent relationships vs dependent relationships towards her children, Louisa advise to trust the process and know taking care of yourself, growing, learning and be the best person you can be is as important. Children absorbs and see that. How they take that on and what they make it mean is their own journey.

Get yourself educated and not just hand over your financial experience to someone else. Because with education comes power, and comes empowerment – empowerment of ourselves.
