A young woman, at the beginning of both her life, and her career. A career that she had work tirelessly to obtain. She sits and watches as her face graces the silver screen for the very first time. A Smile stretches across her face, as she realizes, that all of the sleepless nights and constant practice, has finally culminated into this very moment. A moment she would remember for the rest of her life. What she didn’t know, is that her life would come to an end, very, very soon. Sometimes love…takes your breath away.

In a post 9/11 world, hate crimes against the muslim community were at an all time high in this country. No muslim in the United States, felt safe. White nationalist groups were growing rapidly on a daily basis, largely ignored by the media and our government. Racism and xenophobia are viruses, and left untreated, can result in mass casualties across the world. On august 5th, 2012, at the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, White nationalist terrorism would strike, in our own backyard.

Church is underway at Living Church of God in Brookfield Wisconsin. Families sitting together, learning about the word of god, the end of the world prophecies. 20 minutes into the sermon….the doors open. There stands a man, silent, expressionless, nothing behind his eyes. He slowly raises his weapon and opens fire. A massacre ensues. Church…a place of worship…a place where families gather and feel safe among the people of their faith… The walls are now painted with blood, screams echo throughout the room. While listening to a sermon about the end of times, they had no idea how close to the end they actually were.

It’s October 24th, 1978 in New London NH. The police are on scene at the Chandler Brook Wetland Preserve, responding to reports of a young female body being found. They were not prepared for the carnage they were about to witness. The 27 year old woman, lies there, motionless, void of any trace of life. She had been stabbed over 20 times. Authorities knew they had a murder on their hands, but what they didn’t know, is they were standing over the very first victim of The Connecticut River Valley killer. The beginning of a terror that would continue for years to come.
