Finding Fantasy Reads

Karyne (00:00:07) - Hi fantasy readers. This is Karyne Norton, your fellow book binger, and you are listening to the Finding Fantasy Reads podcast where you can test out a new fantasy story every single week to find your next favorite author.

Today's story is one of murder and revenge, but still manages to sneak in some romance. It's written by Cece Louise, who writes clean novels filled with adventure, romance, and spirit for teens and adults. When she's not writing, she spends her time creating her own adventures with her husband and two kids, and unfortunately, cleaning her house, which she is convinced has been secretly inhabited by mischievous mass multiplying pixies. And I'm pretty sure the long lost cousins of those pixies have taken up residence in my house this summer. It's been rough.

Today's story is told from a dual point of view, which means you'll be getting both my brother Paeter Frandsen, host of Christian Geek Central, and myself as narrators. Stick around to the end or check out today's show notes to see where you can find more from both the author and the narrators, as well as how to enter our giveaway.

For now, please enjoy Saving Vengeance by Cece Louise.

Karyne and Paeter (00:01:17) -  Saving Vengeance is read by Karyne Norton and Paeter Frandsen. Due to copyright, the full transcript of the story cannot be included here. Please go to WEBSITE to get your free ebook copy of the short story.

Karyne (01:05:29) - I hope you enjoyed listening to Saving Vengeance by Cece Louise, narrated by Karyne Norton and by Paeter Frandsen of Christian Geek Central. You can snag your own free copy of today's story when you sign up for her newsletter, and I'll have the direct link for that in the show notes.

Don't forget about this month's giveaway, which includes a paperback copy of Desperate Forest by Cece Louise, which continues with the story of Princess Roselynn. Go to https://www.findingfantasyreads.com/giveaway to enter.

If you enjoyed listening to Paeter narrate the story, you might also enjoy listening to his podcast, Christian Geek Central, where he discusses movies, video games, and all things enjoyed by self-proclaimed geeks from a Christian worldview.

If you haven't already signed up for the Finding Fantasy Reads newsletter, you'll want to get in on that. Each week you get an email letting you know what episode has been added, but I also include links to deals on audio books, new releases and freebies from our featured authors, as well as anything else that I think might interest someone who enjoys fantasy audio books and short stories.

Alisha Klapheke is a USA Today bestselling author who wants to infuse readers' lives with unique magic, far flung-fantasy settings, and romance. Her inspiration springs from an obsession with history, years of world travel, and the fantasy she grew up reading when she was supposed to be doing her math homework.

Karyne (00:00:06) - Hi fantasy readers. This is Karyne Norton, your fellow book binger, and you are listening to the Finding Fantasy Reads podcast, where you can test out a new fantasy story every single week to find your next favorite author.

Today's story is a bit grittier with your classic sword and sorcery fantasy. It follows a young elf dedicated to becoming a warrior and shows how ambition can carry a steep price. It's written by Jeffrey L. Kohanek, who writes about unlikely heroes overcoming impossible odds to save worlds.

And speaking of unlikely heroes, when you sign up for his newsletters, you can expect to see his adorable pups, Frodo and Lionel. I think they're French bulldogs, maybe pugs - I don't know dog breeds. But that doesn't stop me from appreciating pictures of adorable dogs dressed up for holidays. I'm sure one of you will be quick to educate me after you see them.

Today's narrator is Paeter Frandsen, host of Christian Geek Central. Stick around to the end or check out today's show notes to see where you can find more from both the author and the narrator, as well as how to enter our brand new giveaway for the month of July. Karyne (00:00:07) – Hi fantasy readers. This is Karyne Norton, your fellow book binger, and you are listening to the Finding Fantasy Reads podcast where you can test out a new fantasy story every single week to find your next favorite author.

Today's story is written by USA Today bestselling author Anthea Sharp. Anthea grew up on fairy tales and computer games, so she melded the two in her award-winning, best-selling Feyland series, which has sold over 150,000 copies worldwide. In addition to hanging out in virtual worlds, she plays the fiddle with her Celtic band, Fiddlehead, which I'm guessing played a part in today's story. It's another fairy story, but one that delves into some of the darker traditions of faeries and mixes in music and the strength of a young girl.

Stick around to the end or check out today's show notes to see where you can find more from Anthea, as well as how to enter our giveaway with several fun books.

For now, please enjoy Beneath the Knowe by Anthea Sharp.

Most of her books are also available in audio format and can be found on Audible, Amazon and iTunes. Karyne (00:00:07) - Hi fantasy readers. This is Karyne Norton, your fellow book binger, and you are listening to the Finding Fantasy Reads podcast where you can test out a new fantasy story every single week to find your next favorite author.

You may have noticed that today's episode is even longer than last week's. Bear with me as I get the hang of timing things. This could be the last extra long episode, or it might take me six months to figure it out. I don't know. In the meantime, you get to enjoy the stories however long they end up being.

Today's story is a fun one with a quest and an unlikely hero. The author A.L. Lorenson has been writing ever since she can remember, and her goal in life is to never run out of stories to tell, which is a tall order because she's young or so I assume. I don't actually ask authors' ages, but she looks young and she married and graduated from college in the last four years, which is great. I'm always looking for young authors books to read because I assume there's more chance of me dying before they stop writing than there is of them dying in the middle of writing a series I love, which is terribly morbid but true. And now you all know the weird paths my brain can take. So we'll move on.

Today's narrator is Paeter Frandsen, host of Christian Geek Central. Listen through to the end or check out today's show notes to see where you can find more from both the author and the narrator, as well as how to enter our giveaway with books and swag.

For now, please enjoy Where Demons Rest by A.L. Lorenson.

Karyne (00:01:40) -  Where Demons Rest is read by Paeter Frandsen. Due to copyright, the full transcript of the story cannot be included here. Please go to allwrites.com to get your free ebook copy of the short story.

Karyne (01:40:16) - I hope you enjoyed listening to Where Demons Rest by A.L. Lorenson, narrated by Paeter Frandsen of Christian Geek Central.

If you want to read more by Lorensen, go to allwrites.com to find more of her books.

If you enjoyed listening to Paeter narrate the story, you might also enjoy listening to his podcast, Christian Geek Central, where he discusses movies, video games, and all things enjoyed by self-proclaimed geeks from a Christian worldview.

Be sure to check out this month's giveaway with books from all our June featured authors, including For Evergreen and Aspen Trees by A.L. Lorenson. It's quick and easy to enter at https://www.findingfantasyreads.com/giveaway.

Also, if you have found this podcast to be entertaining, would you consider leaving a review? Reviews are small thing that help others find the show and can even be the last thing to sway them to listen, so they're a huge help for a brand new podcast if leaving a review. If it sounds complicated, I've left simple instructions in the show notes.

As always, thank you for listening and happy reading.

Karyne (00:00:07) - Hi fantasy readers. This is Karyne Norton, your fellow book binger, and you are listening to the Finding Fantasy Reads podcast, where you can test out a new fantasy story every single week to find your next favorite author.

You may have noticed that this episode is well over an hour. Oops. I'm still getting the hang of estimating what can be read in less than an hour, so hopefully you'll forgive me. Something tells me you won't have a problem with a little extra story time. Last week, you all got to hear the first three episodes with fantastic stories from amazing authors. However, after choosing those stories, I realized they were all a bit heavy, and I promised you we'd explore a variety of fantasy subgenres, so I decided to give you all a break and pick out something lighter with a sweet romance and a well-defined happily ever after.

If you like fae, pastries, and sassy animal sidekicks, you'll want to listen to this story. Hanna Sandvig writes fairy tales with sweet romance and enough sass to keep things interesting, and I absolutely love that she does so much of her own artwork. No one person should be allowed to have that much talent, but she does. Stick around to the end or check out today's show notes to see where you can find more from Hanna, as well as how to enter this month's giveaway.

For now, please enjoy The Lily Gate by Hanna Sandvig.

Karyne (00:01:34) -  The Lily Gate is read by Karyne Norton. Due to copyright, the full transcript of the story cannot be included here. Please go to hannasandvig.com to get your free ebook copy of the short story.

Karyne (01:22:27) - I hope you enjoyed listening to The Lily Gate by Hanna Sandvig, narrated by Karyne Norton. If you want to read more by Hanna, go to http://www.hannasandvig.com to find more of her books. The Lily Gate is part of a series of standalones with one more novella and two novels. You can grab your own e-book copy of The Lily Gate for free on her website, or you can order the illustrated paperback. Remember how I said she does amazing artwork? Yeah, you'll want that paperback. And it happens to be included in this month's giveaway, so if you want a chance to win it, go to https://www.findingfantasyreads.com/giveaway.

If you haven't already signed up for the Finding Fantasy Reads newsletter, you'll want to get in on that. Each week you get an email letting you know what episode has been added, but I also include links to deals on audiobooks, new releases and freebies from our featured authors, as well as anything else that I think might interest someone who enjoys fantasy audiobooks and short stories.

The links for Hannah's site, the giveaway and signing up for the newsletter are all available in the show notes. As always, thank you all for listening and happy reading.
