We dream in fantasy land. We picture the finish line, the business that works, the baby in our arms. The hard parts never make it into the picture, so when they show up, most people decide they picked the wrong dream.
My dream for years was racing the Ironman World Championships in Kona. I got there in 2022 and had one of the worst days I've ever had on a course. I still got every ounce of what I asked for. It just didn't look like the version in my head.
This episode covers why you can't predict the challenges ahead, why trying to pre-engineer around them keeps you stuck, and why the deeper pull behind a big dream is who you become on the way there, not the destination.

Building a life takes two things: pushing hard for what you want, and staying open to the pull toward something you couldn't have imagined on your own.
The push is defensible. Everyone understands commitment and hard work. The pull is less obvious, and it leads somewhere bigger than what your own imagination can come up with. The work is knowing which one the moment is asking for.
In this episode:
The gap that opens up when you keep pushing toward something you chose five or twenty years ago
Why the push is so hard to quit, and why everyone around you will support you doing it
Limbo, and why sitting in the middle feels safe and drains everything out of you
How to tell a real pull from something you only think you should be pulled to
Why the chaos in your brain has to get quiet before you can hear anything underneath it
Getting comfortable being unsettled, because that's the actual mindset work
Change isn't a one-time event you get through and never repeat. The dance goes both directions, sometimes at the same time.

What Happens at the Top of the Mountain
The midlife crisis gets all the attention. Nobody talks about what happens after it. You do all the things, rebuild a life, and then it's only "mid" life, which means you have a hell of a lot more life left to live.
This summer I got to the top of the mountain I've been climbing for years. Instead of relief, I found unease.
This episode is the other side of it. Why reaching the goal doesn't make you happier, why the tapping comes back after you answer it, and how to find the next mountain before you start to shrink on top of this one.

Recovery is the most misunderstood phase of the season. Most people get it wrong in one of two ways.
1. They take a giant vacation and disappear from the work entirely
2. They skip it and keep dialing the intensity until they burn out.
Neither is recovery. Recovery is a deliberate phase with work attached. Skip it and the next season starts from a worse place than it should.
This episode walks through the four pieces of real recovery: celebration, reflection, evidence, and contained rest. Why most high performers skip celebration and what it costs them.
How to reflect using fact versus story so the brain stops exaggerating what went wrong. The volume button approach to managing intensity across the rest of your life. And what closing a season actually looks like so the next one can start strong.
This closes out The Season You Are In series on the Finding Your Endurance Mindset Podcast. Base, build, peak, recovery. Whatever phase you're in next, the work is the same: do the work that belongs to the phase you're in.

What lesson keeps coming back to you?
Peak phase is the moment everything you've trained for shows up to meet you.
There are 2 things to know about Peak Phase 1: you are entitled to nothing 2: this is when the lesson you have been carrying all season is the one that shows up and you can either learn and grow or have it hit you over the head again.
When you are open to it, Peak Phase is when you have been trained to be at your best and you can handle take in that lesson and grow from it, if you choose.
You are not entitled to the result. Best training block of your life and your legs can still have ten watts less than you needed. That is just what peak is. It is not a guaranteed performance. It is an invitation to find out what you actually have.

We've moved out of base. Intensity is going up, intervals are in, and stress moves to the center of the conversation.
Stress isn't the enemy. The build phase runs on it. The question is whether the stress you're applying is controlled and intentional — or random and reactive.
In this episode:
Add stress. Sit in the discomfort. Grow. Then do it again.
Next episode: the peak performance phase.

Base phase doesn't get a lot of glory. No PRs to post, no breakthroughs to share — just the consistent work that everything else gets built on. That's exactly why it's the hardest phase to stay in.
In this episode, we get into what the base phase actually is — in training, in business, and in life — and why so many people either skip it, shorten it, or quietly abandon it when things start to feel slow or boring.
We cover:
Why boredom in base phase is expected and how to stop letting it pull you off plan
The comparison trap that shows up when your current fitness doesn't match your past
Future belief work — a practical way to anchor yourself to where you're going instead of where you currently are
How to manage your energy strategically and stop spending matches you'll need later
The difference between being behind and simply being in the right phase
Base phase isn't the waiting room. It's the season. This episode is about treating it that way.
Next episode: The build phase — and why controlled stress is your friend, but random stress isn't.

In this first episode of The Season You Are In, Jennifer kicks off a brand new mini series by breaking down one of the most powerful — and overlooked — concepts in endurance sports and life: you are always in a season, whether you're paying attention to it or not.
Drawing from her own recent experience racing the Black Canyon 50K on base fitness, Jennifer talks about what happens when your expectations don't match the phase you're actually in. The result? Frustration, self-judgment, and a whole lot of unnecessary suffering.
In this episode, you'll learn:
Whether you're an athlete, entrepreneur, or creative, this episode will change how you measure where you are — and help you stop arguing with reality.
Next episode: we're diving deep into the base phase.

You have thought patterns running your life right now that you don't even know are there.
They sound like facts. They feel like identity. And they're driving your decisions, your confidence, and your results without you realizing it.
In this episode, Jennifer breaks down what autopilot patterns actually are, where they come from, and why they show up as procrastination, self-doubt, imposter syndrome, fear, and playing small. I walk through the framework I use with every client to uncover these patterns, unravel them, and create new ones. And I share a real client story that shows exactly how one invisible thought pattern was quietly running someone's business decisions for 20 years.
If you've been feeling stuck, frustrated, or behind — it's not a character flaw. Your autopilot button is just on.
I also introduce a free resource called The Autopilot Reset that walks you through this framework step by step.

In this episode, Jennifer explores a pattern that keeps high performers stuck: waiting for permission.
Not because they lack skill, effort, or desire—but because decision-making has moved outside of them.
This conversation breaks down what self-authority really is (and what it’s not), how permission-seeking disguises itself as “just wanting clarity,” and why spreading out responsibility can keep people looping in hesitation and overthinking.
Using examples from racing, training, and real-life decision moments, Jennifer explains:
How to tell the difference between seeking input and seeking permission
Why waiting for validation feels safer but limits forward movement
How spreading responsibility reduces ownership of both success and failure
What it looks like to bring decisions back home—without needing certainty
This episode is for anyone who keeps circling a decision, waiting for the right signal, the right timing, or one more green light.
Because at some point, no one else is there to decide for you.
