This month we will have Dr. Frank Gallo; PHD from the Brattleboro Retreat located in Brattleboro, Vermont to discuss his "Uniformed Services Program" for firefighters, police officers, EMT's and military personnel who are in need of help.

Frank is a former SRT police officer so he understands our daily routines / stressors. Alot of fire service leaders do not know about the wonderful things the Brattleboro Retreat has to offer our servicemen and women. As you know our profession comes with alot of death and destruction. Our mind can only file away so much of the horrific images we see before it starts to effect us both personally and professionally. The Brattleboro Retreat offers a specific "Uniformed Services Program" to cope with the stress, depression, alcohol and drug abuse and the dark side of firefighter suicide.  This will be a great show to discuss how our "traditional manly" exterior is often a false facade for a hurting brother or sister on the inside.  For more information about the USP program you can click here.

Join host Al Schlick as he welcomes Assistant Chief Brian Carlson from the Burnsville (MN) Fire Department and they discuss revamping a fire department training program.  Brian currently serves as the assistant chief of EMS and training for the Burnsville FD, a 40-member, all-career department about 20 miles south of Minneapolis/Saint Paul.  In that role for the past two years, Brian oversees all firefighter and paramedic training and manages the department’s ALS transport service.

A paramedic and firefighter for the past 10 years, Brian has a bachelor’s degree in public administration, and previously worked as a paramedic and firefighter/paramedic in the Las Vegas area.  Listen in and join in on the conversation at The Training Office, the official show of the International Society of Fire Service Instructors.

The International Society of Fire Service Instructors (ISFSI) leads fire and EMS instructors in their efforts to reduce firefighter fatalities and injuries, increase firefighter safety, and improve the profession through education and training. ISFSI supports instructors through educational opportunities, networking, mentoring programs, leadership opportunities, instructional resources, and legislative representation.

In the fire service you either "lead, follow or get out of the way." Pat Nichols & Mark Gregory are definitely leaders. Join them as they discuss training that is both interesting and informational.

Where education meets experience and expertise.  Learn from the decision makers and talk one-on-one with elected leaders.  Being a great firefighter is not good enough!  Politics effect our staffing, budgets and equipment.  Get involved now with Frank Ricci and Chris Pepler.
