Sin pulled man into a false universe where everything revolved around self. But through the Cross, God ends that old centre and shifts us into a whole new one — His centre. In this episode, Alex unpacks Chapter 5 of DeVern Fromke’s The Ultimate Intention, showing how the radical working of the Cross brings full release from self‑life and ushers us into life in the new man.

Fromke’s story of Billy at the parade, his unpacking of S‑I‑N (Selfish, Independent, Negation), and his own testimony of the “truth exploding” in him, all point to one thing: God is calling us out of man‑centeredness into His center where all things are new.

When we live for the part, we miss the whole. Redemption, grace, blessing, even church life — these are precious, but they were never the destination. In this episode Alex unpacks Chapter 4 of DeVern Fromke’s The Ultimate Intention, showing how every part is meant to lead us into the Father’s ultimate fellowship with Himself. Only in the whole do the parts make sense.

In Chapter 3 of The Ultimate Intention, DeVern Fromke shows that all the big themes of Scripture—creation, providence, government, redemption, sanctification, begetting, revelation—are not separate goals, but strands of one rope. And that rope is the Father’s eternal purpose in Christ.

Alex unpacks how each strand finds its meaning in Christ, beginning with the Father’s vital Fatherhood—the Father marking out a vast family for Himself in His Son, chosen before the foundation of the world. From this starting point, each strand—creation, providence, government, redemption, sanctification, begetting, and revelation—takes its proper place as a means serving the greater end.

This episode also points to what Fromke calls the Ultimate Paternal Theme: the Father’s Rule, the Father’s House, the Son’s Place, and the Father’s Heart. Fromke even describes the dimensions of life itself—length, breadth, and depth—as ways to measure how we live in His eternal intention.

Where you begin the story of God shapes where you end. If you start with man, you end with man. If you start with the Father, you end with His family.

In this episode Alex unpacks Chapter 2 of DeVern Fromke’s The Ultimate Intention, showing how the wrong starting point—whether the Fall, man’s commission, or even God as Creator—always distorts the story. Only when we begin with the Father’s eternal purpose in His Son do all the parts make sense.

In this first episode of The Eternal Purpose, Alex unpacks Chapter 1 of DeVern Fromke’s Ultimate Intention. Drawing from both the blue cover edition and the version Nancy McCready is reading on Tent Talk, Alex explores the Father’s eternal purpose with simple and down-to-earth teaching.

This episode takes us through the opening cry of the book: Help me to understand. We look at the story of Billy and his questions, and how this reveals the God-given urge in every person to ask why. We explore the sense of destiny woven into every human heart and see how Christ Himself is our righteousness and the wisdom of God, the answer to man’s deepest questions.

We also consider the difference between the acts of God and the ways of God, and the call to look past the marks of failure to the Father’s glorious “before.” Fromke shows why man’s vision is so often distorted and how Christ is revealed as the centerpiece of the Father’s universe. The episode closes with the three themes of revelation, rectification, and realisation, calling us to live of Him, through Him, and unto Him.
