Recorded live on Palm Sunday, 13th April 2025 at Oasis Church, Portmouth UK this message explores the difference between believing in Jesus and belonging to Him.
“Belief can bring you to the cross—but it cannot take you beyond it.”
“Your old faith died at the cross. You now live by His faith.”
“The goal isn’t to be a better person—it’s to go from dead to alive.”
Through John 6, Luke 22, and Romans 6, Alex challenges us to move beyond emotional crowds and into crucified union: from self-effort to oneness, from surviving to abiding life.
This is the exchange: not a changed life, but His life.
Easter Saturday - Stay Silent!
Easter Saturday is often quiet—but it’s full of hidden work! In this episode, Alex unpacks Oswald Chambers’ April 7th devotional, showing how real understanding comes after Christ rises within us. We see why we must wait for the resurrection life of Jesus to be formed in us before we try to speak or act. This episode is an invitation to slow down, stay hidden, and let His life rise from within.

Good Friday - The collision between God and sin
In this Good Friday episode, Alex shares how the Cross wasn’t just the death of Jesus—it was the death of our old man in Him. Drawing from Oswald Chambers devotional, ‘My utmost for His highest’, we see how the crucifixion was Their plan from before the foundation of the world. Jesus chose the Cross, drank the cup agreed upon in eternity, and opened the way for us to live by His Life. This episode invites you to see the Cross as your beginning, not your end.

As we enter Easter week, this final episode in the Abiding Oneness series draws all the threads together—our union with Christ, our crucifixion and resurrection with Him, and the eternal plan of the Father to place us in the Son. This isn’t the end of a teaching series; it’s the unveiling of God’s story from before the foundation of the world: not just to save sinners, but to raise sons.
Also in this episode, Alex briefly discusses The Bible Society report: The Quiet Revival, and as encouraging as the findings are, there are real some genuine questions which need to be raised in relation to the gospel and discipleship. What is our response to this report? Alex raises some provoking questions surrounding the gospel, and challenges us to consider whether we have even heard the gospel ourselves! Whilst he doesn't unpack this question in this episode, make sure you return after the Easter weekend for some highly provoking conversations.
What if your union with Christ didn’t begin with your commitment to Him—but with the Father placing you in Him? Today, we dive deep into 1 Corinthians 1:30 and Andrew Murray’s life-changing chapter, showing us that Jesus isn’t just the way to salvation—He is our salvation.
In this episode, you’ll discover:
• That your life in Christ is of God, not of works
• Christ as your wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption
• The power of abiding in a Person, not a performance
• The security of being planted in Christ, not striving to remain
With insights from Andrew Murray, Watchman Nee, and the apostle Paul, this episode will draw you into the rest and confidence of a life that begins, continues, and is kept by Jesus Himself.
You’re not trying to be like Christ—you’re in Christ. And He is everything!

In this episode of Firm Foundation Focus, we explore the profound meaning of Jesus' teaching of "the vine and the branches" from John 15:5, which highlights the intimate and life-giving relationship between Christ and believers.
Alex takes the time to read the entirety of chapter 4 from 'Abide in Christ' by Andrew Murray and invites us to consider these central truths - without the vine, the branch can do nothing, and likewise, without the branch, the vine can do nothing! Each have need of each other - without the branch, the Vine cannot produce any fruit.
Grab a drink and something to take notes with, and explore some of the deeper, life-transforming truths of the nature of this union we have with Them!

In this episode of Firm Foundation Focus, Alex continues the Abiding Oneness series by exploring the liberating truth that it is Christ—not your own strength—that keeps you abiding. Drawing from chapter 3 of Andrew Murray’s Abide in Christ, Alex unpacks the reality that the One who saved you is the One who sustains you.
Too often, believers fall into the trap of striving to maintain intimacy with God, as if abiding depends on their performance. But Jesus makes it clear: “No one can snatch them out of My hand” (John 10:28). Your security rests in His grip, not your effort. Through scriptural insights and quotes from spiritual giants like Watchman Nee, Hudson Taylor, and Oswald Chambers, this episode reveals the freedom of trusting His keeping power.
If you’ve ever felt weary from trying to hold on to God, this episode will encourage you to rest in the assurance that He is the One holding you.
Tune in and be reminded: The same Jesus who called you is the One who keeps you.
