Paul sent Timothy to Philippi to be a living example of what he wanted the Philippian church to be like. He wanted them to have Christ-Like priorities and proven faithfulness.

These verses tell us to do all things without grumbling or complaining. God wants us to be different by being humble, living in the world with holiness and holding out life. Only then can we glorify God by our example toward others.

Work out your salvation with fear and trembling. This verse is not talking about for our salvation. God has done everything needed for our salvation. What God wants us to do is to conduct ourselves worth of the Gospel of Christ.

We are shaped by what we see. Paul is pointing us to look at Jesus. We want to be changed into selfless servants.

We tend to cover our sin rather than confess it to God. God wants us to be honest to Him and to ourselves. We need to be honest in our prayers to God, we need to be honest with one another and we need to look at obedience differently.

Unity within the church comes from two things: Realizing that we have everything we need in Christ....and...humility.

Paul talks about church community in Ephesians 2:19-22. In verses 19-20 Paul gives three analogies concerning church community - fellow citizens, family members and building on a firm foundation. Community is where we can join together to reach our friends and neighbors.

What is Gospel Citizenship? When we become Christians we become members of God's kingdom. Today we will talk about 1) The Call to Gospel Citizenship 2) The Fruit of Gospel Citizenship and 3) The Encouragement for Gospel Citizenship.

Why would Paul rejoice, even though death could be a real possibility? Paul knew that death will rob you of everything you are living for if you are not living for Christ. More than anything else, Paul wanted to be with Christ. Why did he feel this way? When we truly know Christ, we will look forward to being with Him.

What is important and what is not? In Paul's life, his imprisonment, being chained to guards and his reputation were not important. What was important was the advancement of the gospel of Christ.
