First Baptist Church Crothersville - Sermons/Podcast

Have you ever wondered why daredevils risk their lives to perform a stunt? Just as tightrope walkers are confident in their ability even as they risk death several hundred feet in the air; we as Christians can be confident as believers in Christ as we walk the tightrope of life. We are children of God and our security is in Christ Jesus. Knowing this, we can approach God the Father confidently, in Christ.

How do you know something is true? If you see a chair, what makes you confident that it will hold you if you sit in it? How confident are you in your eternal life?

Christmas is right around the corner. And while we spend these last few days planning family visits, buying those last-minute gifts and preparing lots of food, let’s not forget that Christmas celebrates Jesus’ birth. And as important as His birth is to remember and celebrate, it is the purpose for which He came to Earth which we should truly celebrate. Because as John explains in 1 John 5:13, “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.”

When life presents you with struggles and difficulties, what gets you through them? If you believe in Jesus Christ and have accepted Him as your personal savior, you can take comfort in the fact that no matter what you go through here on earth, God has overcome the world. Your faith is the key to victory.

In Matthew 22:36-40, a Pharisee asked Jesus, "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied, "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" As Christians we should be known for our love. Love comes from God and whoever does not love does not know God.
