All children - that's you and me - long for the approval of their parents… especially their fathers. It's a longing that never goes away. It gets buried or transferred to other relationships, but it's there. And we underestimate its power. Every parent wants to be approved by his or her child - to be a hero, to hear, "when I grow up I want to be just like you." As that desire grows, so does a parent's insecurity. Buried beneath the hurt, disappointment, distance, or silence is a desire to be connected to our children and our fathers. It lasts a lifetime. We invite you to join us as we look at how there are some battles that are worth fighting when it comes to family.

When it comes to family, the only thing we all have in common is conflict. Family conflict is like no other because when you win an argument in your family, you don't really win anything. The conflict is never fully resolved. What if there was a way to resolve family conflict by dealing with it at its source? This weekend's message takes us to the heart of our conflicts and shares insights from God’s Word on what to do with the mess.

In his letter to the Christ followers in Ephesus, the apostle Paul drew from Jesus' use of power what is perhaps the most powerful relational teaching of all - an instruction that changes everything in family dynamics. It all comes down to asking a simple question: What can I do to help? Family. We all have one. While some of us loved our growing up years, others of us couldn’t wait to move out and start fresh. Either way the Family Of My Dreams is supposed to be a step up from our families of origin, right? Most of us want something better for our kids. But what? When it comes to families, what does a preferred future look like? What exactly are we aiming for? We hope you’ll join us as we explain why aiming at God’s ideal is still worth it, even when our reality makes reaching it impossible.

What does it mean to be RAISED? How does baptism fit into the picture? What does it mean to truly follow Jesus? Once we’ve accepted Him as our Savior, how does that look in our everyday life? For far too many of us, our relationship with Jesus is built upon convenience, comforts, and fair-weather fandom. When we have time or when there’s added benefit. But if that is what our relationship is built on, do we even have a relationship with Him at all? This weekend we look at the big difference between being for Christ and being with Christ, and the drastic impact that those words, and their corresponding actions, have on our relationship with Him.

Easter is a big deal to us. It’s a great time to learn about why the resurrection of Jesus is at the center of everything we believe and practice. Some have tried to separate the life and teachings of Jesus from the resurrection of Jesus, but it can’t be done. All Or Nothing is the title of the message for this special weekend. We’ll look together at why this is so important to each of us and why it’s worth celebrating!

On many of our calendars this coming Sunday is designated as Palm Sunday, referring to the incredible entry Jesus made into Jerusalem for the start of Holy Week. While we may not know the whole story, sometimes there are details that we have probably missed that we need to slow down long enough to take in. This weekend,we will be sharing one of those details that we need to take notice of, having to do with the subject of obeying Jesus. Think this line through: When we do what Jesus tells us, it will turn out just like Jesus said it would.

One of the biggest problems with superiority and pride is that those who suffer from it don’t know it. It makes a world of difference whether somebody lives with a sense of grace and gift or whether they live with a sense of entitlement and smugness. Jesus went after a sense of spiritual superiority whenever he sensed it in people’s lives. He called it self-righteousness. He still calls us out of it and gives us the way to come back home.

One of the biggest problems with greed is that we rarely see it in ourselves, and we definitely see it in the lives of others. Greed is not just a simple word. It is a syndrome that takes root in our lives. This week we look at our need for honesty in this area and tackle ways that we can live our lives beyond the greed that is all around us. Join us as we continue our series “New Identity.” Greed is about so much more than money, and we need to hear what God has to say.
