Following the teachings of Christ has lots of benefits – financial security, relational stability, moral margin. But at some point, being a Christian will cost you something. You’ll feel a nudge to start, stop, get out of, or maybe go. In this week’s message we reframe the choices we have when following Christ begins to cost us something. Will it be worth it to give in to the nudge?

What do you need to accomplish before the end of the year? For many of us that list could go on and on. But, what if there was just one thing that you had to do? What would it be? Our “One Thing” may be different from someone else’s, but they all have something in common. They are affecting our life and relationships with others and God. Join us this week as we look at what the story of Nehemiah has to say about accomplishing our “One Thing” and the difference it makes in our lives

This week we celebrate what God has already done and look forward to what He plans to do through us in the future. We take a look at all the amazing stories of God's grace that we have witnessed and ask the question how can we help more people receive His grace. Hope is one of our favorite words, and our world so desperately needs it! God has called us to be hope cultivators. How are we supposed to pull that off? We do it by remembering what God has already done for us. We forget too much, but God has called us to remember this because He is faithful. We must also remember it’s a team thing. It’s personal, but it’s also community. The dream actually gets bigger when we do it all together. And then we need to remember that all of this matters. We are called, by God, to be change agents.God wants to use FCC to cultivate hope!

The only reason we have what we have is because of the generosity of others. This is what worship is all about for us. We worship a God who loves us with such generosity that we cannot help but be grateful. This generosity then spills over into the rest of our lives as many of us are called deeper into the story. This Sunday we look at the source of such incredible generosity. One of our main themes is that we are asking for equal sacrifice, not equal gifts. God is not concerned about the amount given, but the reason and sacrifice it involves. God is up to something and would love to work through us to see it happen!

We believe there is a unique passion at the heart of what God is doing and we see it here at FCC. This Sunday morning, we look at where this unique passion comes from and where it’s leading us. Using the story of the Prodigal Son and the Older Brother we will see that we have the Father’s love and we have the freedom to reject it. The cool thing about this story is that it points out that there is always a party when someone comes to grace. Many of us have come to that party. So now it remains to be seen: Will we set up the party for other people?

Starting at the beginning, which is a very good place to start. If you want to know where the crazy story of FCC is headed, please understand that we’ll be taking our cues from the way it all got started. Sometimes it’s in looking back that we remember how things changed. This week we focus on what our story is, and why it is God’s intent for His Church to grow. This is a very special time in the history of our church family.

We wrap up our series with the song: You Give Love A Bad Name. Frustration is found in the gap between expectation and experience. Frustration with others. Frustration with God. But what about when we’ve frustrated ourselves? When we’re the ones who have disappointed our own expectations? In this message we will share a passage that shows us how our greatest disappointments can become the source of our greatest encounter with Jesus.

Most of our frustrations are born out of our own personal experiences not meeting our expectations, but what about when the tables are turned? What do we do when we are the one not living up to the expectations of others? How do we avoid the weight of disappointment when we don’t measure up? What should our response be to the negative opinions of others? In this message we learn the proper position to get into when the opinions of others get in-between us and Christ.

What happens when God is at the center of our expectation and he doesn’t come through? When our prayers fall flat. When it seems like the God who loves us didn’t provide for us in the way we had hoped. But, God doesn’t share our perspective. His plans won’t always match up with our plans. In this message we learn how to realign our expectations with a new perspective on who God really is.
