One of the most common areas of scandals is the area of politics--both in history and presently. Politics is also one of the most heated areas of debate and division in our culture. In today's passage, we see a powerful ruler, King Herod, flexing his political muscles against King Jesus. His response is actually a picture of our hearts' response to King Jesus' authority; today's passage challenges our view of politics as well as the misplaced hope we put into it. It reminds us of the hope of Jesus and His kingdom.

Our world is filled with scandal--in politics, Hollywood, sports, and church. We love learning about scandal, but did you know that when we follow Jesus, it can also mean scandal for us personally? Today, we learn about Joseph and Mary, 2 famous characters in the Christmas account. Their decision to surrender to God despite the scandal challenges us today. And their decision to surrender points to the one who ultimately surrendered to His Father on the cross—Jesus Christ.

Whether we admit it or not, we love a good scandal in the news or on Netflix, but what if YOU are part of the scandal? What if YOU come from a family filled with scandal and drama? What if YOUR life and past has been filled with hard things? What if YOUR identity seems like a scandal? Is it possible for hope? Matthew 1:1-17 seems like a boring genealogy, but it is filled with scandal yet hope in Jesus, the one uniquely qualified to be our Savior, Lord, and hope this Christmas. He is the one who gives us hope in the midst of scandal.

Have you ever had spiritual indigestion in your relationship with God? In Revelation chapter 10, the Apostle John eats God's Word, and it tastes sweet but turns his stomach sour. Why? In the same way, God's Word and His ways also can be sweet yet cause spiritual indigestion. Why? There are many reasons. Spiritual indigestion is normal in our walk with God. Let's explore what it is and how to handle it.

Hail, blood, bitter waters, darkness, demon locusts, millions of demonic troops! This is a crazy passage! We cannot answer every question we have about this passage. However, this passage shows that God uses these judgments to cause us to examine what or whom we worship. Do we worship Jesus or something else? Are we willing to turn to Jesus and surrender to Him? Join us as we unpack this passage today.

How do I know I am saved? How do I know I really belong to Jesus? How do I know I really am a part of the true people of God? These are some of the most important questions we can ask and answer. Revelation 6:17 says, "For the great day of their (God's) wrath has come, and who can stand? Revelation 7 will help us answer this question.

What would our lives look like if we truly fulfilled Jesus' command to "go and make disciples?" What would our community and world look like if we took this seriously? Today, we have the privilege of interviewing Brad Buckingham who serves with Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). Brad will share about his calling, FCA and sports, and how all of us can get involved in making disciples of Jesus.
