Former Stanford University sailing coach John Vandemoer is the first person to be sentenced in the college admissions cheating scandal: Operation Varsity Blues. He was sentenced to one day in prison, six months of home detention, two years of supervised release, and a $10,000 fine. My producer Miranda joins us to break it down and the thing that worked in his favor, he never pocketed the money, but sent it all back to the sailing program.
Next, nearly 1,400 people had died in Congo from an Ebola outbreak that has lasted nearly a year, and now the contagious disease has spread to Uganda.
