Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of a German tourist in Mpumalanga. Tourism Minister Lindiwe Sisulu confirmed the arrests last night at a media briefing. The 67-year-old tourist was shot dead in Masoyi between White River and Hazyview in Mpumalanga on Monday. The three suspects were initially taken in for questioning prior to the arrests. Mineral Resources and Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe says Africa must speak in one voice about the continent's choice of energy pathway. Mantashe was speaking on the sidelines of the Africa Oil Week conference underway in Cape Town. He says the Just Energy Transition must include the use of gas and other renewable energy sources, while at the same time scaling down on South Africa's previous over-reliance on coal. The South African Democratic Teachers' Union (Sadtu) has indicated that it is willing to accept the government's revised 3% wage offer for the country's more than 1.3-million public servants. SADTU says it will make an announcement today on the matter when it concludes its national general council meeting. This is as the Public Servants Association has rejected the latest offer, saying the continuation of the R1000 cash gratuity until March next year, is not suitable in the current economic conditions. Lesotho will hold parliamentary elections on Friday - amid failures by its politicians to pass constitutional reforms meant to end years of political instability in the mountain kingdom. The road freight industry says the hike in diesel prices today will hurt many businesses in the transport sector. While petrol had a marginal decrease, the prices of diesel increased between 10 and 15 cents per liter. The Kruger Lowveld Chamber of Business and Tourism has issued an R50 000 reward for information leading to the arrest of suspects responsible for the murder of a German tourist in White River, Mpumalanga. Three suspects reportedly accosted four tourists who were driving to a lodge on the periphery of the Kruger National Park. One of the suspects allegedly shot at the tourist who was driving, after they had refused to open the doors of the vehicle. The suspects fled the scene without taking anything. The Department of Public Enterprises has reiterated that documents pertaining to the sale of SAA are confidential. This is after the Western Cape High Court ordered the Department to provide Toto Investment Holdings with confidential documents of the SAA-Takatso consortium deal. The Tshwane-based investment firm took the department to court over the acquisition of a 51% stake in the embattled state-owned airline by the Takatso Consortium.
