The municipality of Emfuleni has reached an agreement with Eskom to avert a cut of electricity supply. This follows two weeks of deliberation with the power utility which threatened to cut off electricity supply to Emfuleni by the 6th of this month, for millions owed to Eskom by the municipality. Judgment has been reserved in the High Court in Bloemfontein in the preservation order matter involving the controversial businessman Atul Gupta and the Bank of Baroda. The two have denied wrong doing in the alleged Estina dairy corruption scandal involving more than 220-million rand Vrede farm project. The NPA had applied to the court for the freezing of assets of both Gupta and the bank. Gupta's 10 million rand had been frozen as it is alleged to be proceeds of crime.
