Eight suspects facing charges of alleged fraud, corruption, theft and money laundering have appeared in the Bloemfontein Regional court. The accused are Free State Agriculture head Peter Thabethe, former Oakbay chief executive Nazeem Howa, Varun Gupta, Ashu Chalwa, Ronica Ragavan and Kamal Vasrum. The other two are Free State Agriculture department Chief Financial Officer Dr Tikisi Masiteng and Sylvia Dlamini. The charges are related to an investigation by the Hawks into state capture and irregularities at the Estina dairy farm in Vrede in the Free State. The Democratic Alliance (DA) and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have written to the speaker of the National Assembly, Baleka Mbete asking her to postpone the State Of The Nation Address. The two parties, in their letters, say they want to table a motion of no confidence against President Jacob Zuma before the address can take place. Questions still remain about President Jacob Zuma's future -- despite the ANC National Executive's marathon 13-hour meeting on Monday to resolve the issue. While a briefing in Johannesburg this afternoon on the outcome of the meeting, reported the decision to recall him - little light has been shed on the reasons for the move, time frames for his stepping down and what will happen should he remain defiant.
