That's when it'll be most effective. Otherwise, budgeting your calories can actually make your underlying struggles worse. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In episode 88 of Fitness & Sushi, Deanna and I show you how to approach calorie counting in the best way possible so that this tool is an asset to your journey if you need it, instead of a liability that you depend on. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In this episode - "How to Use Calorie Counting the Right Way When or If You Need To", you'll learn... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔶 The 4 different levels of calorie counting and which you should use ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔶 How to know if you're ready to utilize the calorie counting tool ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔶 How to be honest with yourself when it's causing more harm than good ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔶 Why calorie counting doesn't have to be all-or-nothing ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔶 The traps to look out for when you decide to reintroduce tracking ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔶 Why the "exacerbate" struggle continues for Tony ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ …and much more! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So check the episode out. When approached the right way, weight loss becomes a natural side effect of improved relationships with food, body, exercise, and mind.

The problem is many people see weight loss as their savior - believing it will solve their negative body image, emotional eating, motivation struggles, and more.

  • 85. How to Handle Overshooting Food Freedom

🟡 It's not unusual to overshoot food freedom. In fact, it's usually a required part of the process for getting there.

I've watched so many people try to get out of the food prison they're in and get to a place of food freedom. And it's been interesting to watch a pattern take place.

Think of your food freedom journey like a pendulum. On one side you have food prison, and on the other side you have food free-for-all. And right in the middle you have food freedom.

You start in food prison where you have all kinds of food rules, obsessions, and trust issues around food.

To overcome these issues you implement permission-based eating. You start saying yes to all the things you previously said you couldn't have.

What happens though is you say yes too much to the point that you don't feel your best. At that point you're in food free-for-all mode.

But it's from this place that you make the empowering decision to want more for yourself. So you start setting some healthy boundaries around food and move closer to the middle of the pendulum where food freedom exists.

This process can be scary to navigate, so Deanna and I recorded an entire episode about in on our podcast.

In episode 85 of Fitness & Sushi, we're going to completely break down the food freedom process so you know what to expect and can feel confident that you're on the right track.

In this episode - "How to Handle Overshooting Food Freedom", you'll learn...

🔶 How the process of food freedom actually plays out

🔶 Why overshooting might be a necessary part of the process

🔶 What to do when you feel like you took food freedom too far

🔶 How to get from a place of I can't or shouldn't eat that, to a place of I want or don't want that

🔶 How healthy boundaries around food fit into this process

🔶 How Deanna loves a flaming pile of epiphanies

    …and much more!

  • 84. How to Stop Hating Your Body

🟡 Hating your body never changes it in the long term. In fact, body hate is one of the single greatest obstacles to transformation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I hated my body for more than a decade. The only thing that accomplished was sporadic periods of leanness shrouded in body insecurity and a small life experience. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It wasn't until I made the conscious choice to start accepting my body and moving away from hating it that my life truly changed. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As a result of appreciating and respecting my body, my eating became more consistent and less weight loss focused. My body stopped swinging between extreme leanness followed by 30lb weight gains. And I went from living an insecure life to one of more confidence. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But it wasn't the easiest struggle to overcome. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In episode 84 of Fitness & Sushi, Deanna and I are going to show why moving beyond body hate is key to your success and how to go about changing the way you see yourself so you can start living your life to its true potential. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In this episode - "How to Stop Hating Your Body", you'll learn... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔶 What's really causing you to hate your body ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔶 Why hating your body is causing more harm than you think ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔶 How to stop being triggered by what you see in the mirror ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔶 The difference between your body and your body image and why your body isn't the issue ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔶 Why you can't hate your body into changing it ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔶 Why Tony was disappointed to hear that he wasn't Deanna's mentor ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ …and much more! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So check the episode out. • 82. How to Keep "Junk" Food In the House Without Eating it All

🟡 There's more to permission-based eating than just saying yes to all the foods you want to eat. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I see it all the time. People give themselves permission to eat foods they've placed off limits, so they go to the store and buy the food, but then they end up eating way more of it than they wanted.

So they quickly write off the idea of practicing moderation and go back to placing these foods on their "trigger foods" list.

Here's the thing - permission is a feeling, not an action.

You can say yes to buying any food you want. You can tell yourself you have permission to eat it any time you want. But if you don't actually feel and believe that's true, all you're doing is fueling distrust and scarcity, and loading the spring of overeating. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In episode 82 of Fitness & Sushi, Deanna and Tony are going to show you what's missing from your permission-based eating lifestyle so you can start being around the foods you love without feeling out of control around them. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In this episode - "How to Keep "Junk" Food In the House Without Eating it All", you'll learn... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔶 Why you feel out of control around junk food ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔶 Why you can't force moderation ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔶 Strategies for loosening the grip that these foods have over you ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔶 The important distinction between permissive behaviors and a permissive mindset ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔶 How your body image influences how you feel and act around food ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔶 The hypocrisy behind Tony asking Deanna if she wants to go to the grocery story ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ …and much more!

  • 81. How to Stop Being Triggered By Your So-Called Flaws

🟡 What you see in the mirror is way less important than who you see looking back.

Focusing on what you see in the mirror keeps you stuck defining your self-worth externally as the sum of your body parts.

Focusing on who you see in the mirror shifts your self-worth internally and allows you to see yourself as a whole human being. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Obsessing over our "flaws" keeps us living a small life - constantly hiding who we are, and feeling like we have less value to offer the world simply because something on our body doesn't fit into a societal norm.

It's not easy to detach all the negative meaning we've associated with our body parts, but it's possible if you work through the struggle the right way. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In episode 81 of Fitness & Sushi, Deanna and Tony are going to help you start seeing yourself as the perfect person you are so that you stop focusing on your flaws and begin to step into an identity of someone who has amazing confidence and self-worth. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In this episode - "How to Stop Being Triggered By Your So-Called Flaws", you'll learn... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔶 The difference between how we see our imperfections vs how others see them ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔶 What you can do to stop being so laser-focused on your "flaws" ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔶 How to see yourself through the eyes of someone who loves you ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔶 A new more empowering way to perceive your "flaws" ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔶 How to stop seeing yourself as the sum of your body parts ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔶 Why Tony gets annoyed when Deanna says he's a beautiful man ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ …and much more!
