Flags Fly Forever Fantasy Baseball

After many moons, labor fights, and general chaos around the world the 2020 baseball season begins today. Mike, Jon, and Samuel talk first about fantasy baseball strategies that are good and bad ideas during the shortened 2020 season, before spending the back half of the podcast talking about their predictions for the season. It's a meaty podcast as we return to weekly shows, so join us for what will be a wild ride over the next two plus months.

With baseball right around the corner Mike, Jon, and Samuel welcome in Michael Ajeto and Yancy Eaton from Pitcher List to discuss...well pitchers of course. What else would they come on to discuss? Anyway, Michael and Yancy give their takes on the SP tiers that Mike(too many Mikes/Michaels on this episode) developed before the pandemic began, picking out intriguing names for the shortened 2020 season. It's a fun, energy filled listen with a lot of smarts from the Pitcher List crew.

Baseball was not back, but now it is again. It might not be back by the time you hear this, because pandemics don't care about baseball. However, we know what baseball will look like this year if/when it comes back. The big thing that involves is instituting the universal designated hitter for 2020 and 2021. Mike, Jon, and Samuel took some time to break down what that might mean for each NL team, and who might be worth targeting when the season resumes.

Baseball is....back? The contentious negotiations between the owners and players continue, but on Wednesday at recording time it looked like the two parties were close to an agreement to return to the field. Mike, Jon, and Samuel break down what this looks like as they record, and vent about the entire process. It's about baseball, but it does take some turns because would it be a FFF podcast if it didn't?

This week on Flags Fly Forever, it's the episode that inevitably occurs when three writers podcast regularly. That's right, it's a podcast all about writing. Mike, Jon, and Samuel spend time talking about how they became writers, how they found their way to BP, and what advice they might have for anyone that potentially wants to pursue writing as a creative endeavor. Also Samuel tries out a new microphone and it goes just OK, he's sorry about that in advance.

Over at the BP website, there's a lot of movie based content already in existence and with more coming. Mike, Jon, and Samuel decided it'd be fun to do a show all about baseball movies. Well, Samuel did and the hosts didn't complain so it worked out just fine. They put movies into three categories, not unlike fantasy baseball players. See the tie in? Anyway it's a fun show with a lot of opinions including one classic baseball movie getting savaged in the "Movie to Avoid" tier. Enjoy!

Mike, Jon, and Samuel are joined by Razzball's projection wizard Rudy Gamble from Razzball this week. It's a rousing discussion about the potential plans for baseball to return, followed by a discussion about the historical draft Mike and Rudy are in the middle of.

Due to technical issues, the planned show had to be postponed. As most things in the world seem to be, unfortunately. However, executive producer Samuel went into his archives and pulled out some never before heard content because the show must go on.

So I know what you're thinking. Skip to minute 58 on the episode, and the title will make sense. Then skip back, or just wait until then, to enjoy this week's episode. Mike, Jon, and Samuel didn't have much of a plan, so they started talking. They cover a lot of topics including new ballpark construction, why is MLB so bad at marketing itself, relationships between sports fans and their teams and more! It's a free form discussion we think you'll enjoy!
