What if Michael Ironside's name wasn't Michael Ironside? Would he still be as cool??
While we all wait for the Apple "geniuses" to do their jobs and fix Sarah's computer, have a listen to our last episode discussing Brandon's first "Top Gun" viewing! Or revisit some of our delectable highlights reels.
We hope to be back to regular programming just as soon as Sarah's Mac isn't constantly trying to sleep while she tries to edit episodes. (GRRRRRR!!!!)
Sarah made Brandon watch the 80s classic, “Top Gun.” Brandon didn’t hate it like Sarah thought he might, but he did NOT appreciate the 80s synth music, the greased up volleyball scene, or the overdone tonguetactular love scene, and they nearly came to blows when Sarah forced him to sit through the ending credits and Cheap Trick’s “Mighty Wings.”
Apologies for the super late release this week. We have had one HELL of a week for computer issues.
Brandon and Sarah talk about their choices for top 5 (or so) songs, some of the history and drama behind the songs and videos, and as usual, they embark on some interesting tangents.

U2 - “One”

Three music videos were created for "One" by U2. The first, directed by Anton Corbijn, was filmed in Berlin and features the band members performing at Hansa Studios interspersed with footage of Trabants (an East German automobile they became fond of as a symbol for a changing Europe) and shots of them dressed in drag. However, the band pulled the video, fearing the single's status as an AIDS benefit would result in critics finding AIDS-related interpretations of the video.

Brandon and Sarah watch and critique “Alien,” the original film of the franchise, directed by Ridley Scott. It was basically Brandon’s first time watching, since if he has seen it before, he’s basically forgotten it. Listen to find out if he thinks it holds up after 41 years!

Brandon and Sarah talk about Herbert Alford, a man wrongfully convicted of murder and imprisoned for almost 5 years due to the failure of The Hertz Corporation to respond to subpoenas in his criminal case. Hertz failed to produce the receipt for a rental car transaction on the day of the murder which would have shown Alford could not have committed the crime.
If you want to view the Motion for Relief from Automatic Stay filed by Herbert Alford in the case against Hertz, which attaches various of the documents referenced in this episode, including the Hertz receipt and portions of court transcripts, click here for a downloadable PDF.

Brandon and Sarah discuss Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein’s best friend, confidante, and co-abuser for years. Who is she, where did she come from, and why did she do the terrible things she did alongside Epstein? We also talk some about Prince Andrew and his involvement in the sex trafficking carried out by Epstein and Maxwell, and we discuss some of the victims - including Virginia Roberts Giuffre - and how they were tragically robbed of their chance to finally see Epstein brought to justice.
Brandon and Sarah watched the comedy/drama series, “Wild Bill,” starring Rob Lowe, and we have never liked him better. We break the show down a bit, share our favorite quotes, and explain why, sadly, there won’t be more episodes. Rob Lowe seems in his element here - we REALLY enjoyed watching him give it right back to some snotty Brits, and unfortunately, we may have gone off on a tangent on that topic.
**Warning: Spoilers!
Apologies for our week’s absence. Persistent technical issues with Sarah’s Mac prevented us from recording during that time.
Did you know mosquitos are pollinators? Did you know ticks are an important indicator of the health of an ecosystem? Do you care? Probably not, because they are both still disgusting. Nevertheless, Brandon and Sarah do their best to make you hate them just a LITTLE bit less by revealing their very bestest qualities. Listen and learn!
*Sarah called Jill Biden Mrs. Biden, but she really did mean to call her Dr. Biden!

Brandon and Sarah talk about possible future inventions they’re excited or hopeful for, like teleportation (no flies, please), self-driving cars, widely accessible lab-grown meat, and for Brandon, just cooler video games.
- The wormhole book: The Light of Other Days by Stephen Baxter, based on a synopsis by Arthur C. Clarke.
Brandon and Sarah watched the pilot episode of “Resident Alien,” the SyFy Network’s new comedy/drama starring a mutual favorite, Alan Tudyk. We recite the funniest quotes, share our favorite moments, and basically just gush about the star of the show. Tune in to see how we each rate the show so far!
