This is the first episode of something new that we are calling "Hey, what's your problem?"

Jon and Mike aka Drifting Platypus aka DP got to talking and found that they both were regular listeners to the Car Talk radio show with Tom and Ray Magliozzi.  That inspired us to get a list of problems or issues that you all are having, and that is what we talk about here!

For episode 100 of the Flatirons Syndicate Motorsports Podcast, we got Tasso and Dussex in the shop, to record the episode "old school" but we live streamed the episode as well.

We talk about the beginnings of the podcast, and about how the podcast changed and developed through the years.

At the end, we make some predictions about what might happen in the next two years and 100 episodes.

For episode 99 of the Flatirons Syndicate Podcast, we first check in with Dussex about his last couple of races, and Tasso about how he is getting along with finding a shell and building a new OTC Rally Car.

We also have a new member of the Podcast this episode, Mike aka. The Beard aka. DP, from the shop.

We then talk about the news that the Pikes Peak Hill Climb is now working with manufacturers that want to set an Official Race Time on Pikes Peak, but outside of the actual race that is only held once a year.

This now makes Pikes Peak effectively America's Nurburgring... But is that a good thing?  Or a bad thing?  

And what does it mean for the race itself?

We also talk with Dussex about the 2023 PPIR Gold Rush Race that he is putting on the week after the hill climb next year.

Loni Unser is part of a family that has a rich history in motorsports, and especially in racing in the Pikes Peak Hill Climb.  In this episode we talk about her road from racing go-karts, to Miata's, to driving in the 100th Pikes Peak Hill Climb.

Believe it or not, Loni started out racing on skis, not in anything with 4 wheels.  That came later when she started driving Karts a bit, and that quickly moved into racing Spec Miata with NASA Rocky Mountain.

From there she ran the Mazda MX5 cup with Hixon Motor Sports in 2021, and her success there set the foundation for her to secure a place in the Porsche Cup for the 100th running of the Pikes Peak Hill Climb.

For episode 98 of the Flatirons Syndicate Motorsports Podcast, we talk with Loni about her path to racing, what she though about competing in the Pikes Peak Hill Climb for the first time, and we also talk to her about Shift Up Now which she is a part of.

There are a lot of WRX STI swapped Subaru's out there, and most likely iWire has had a hand in a lot of them. But since we last had Brian on a lot has changed. With the Cobb Green Speed changes, and the fact that all modern WRXs and STIs have a CAN bus, it is a lot more difficult to swap the engine and transmission now.

But since this is what they specialize in, this is exactly what iWire is working on now. Brian is trying to get his modern CAN bus STI swapped RS through California's BAR certification. Once they figure the process out, it will hopefully help with applying the process to other cars.

We also talk about all of the different build iterations that Brian's RS has been through, including trying to make an EZ36 6-Cylinder swap work with the help of a Haltech Standalone, and what went wrong.

Tasso and Jon talk with Tanner about his path so far, and what his plan is to continue on with his 6-cylinder build.  We also talk to him about some of his other projects, and he and Tasso talk a bit about standalones and wiring.  

That shifts to a talk about trying to think outside of the box when you are building your car.  What are the benefits and drawbacks to taking that approach, and why would anyone do that?

For Episode 95 of the Flatirons Syndicate Motorsports Podcast, Tasso, Dussex, and Jon catch up with Tasso about his first overall win of a Colorado Hill Climb, and then Gridlife Alpine Horizon.

Just a few weeks ago, Tasso was running at the Continental Divide Hill Climb in Monarch. It was a great event for the OTC Racing team as they finally achieved the goal of a first overall finish in the CHCA series!

Just two weeks after that, Tasso was set to compete in the Rally Sprint race at Gridlife Alpine Horizon, and Dussex was going to be competing in the Time Attack class there as well.

Although Alpine Horizon was a very fun event, it didn't go quite to plan for either Dussex or Tasso. And in Tasso's case, it did not end well.

We talk all about what happened, and about what Tasso's plan is going forward.

For episode 94 of the Flatirons Syndicate Motorsports Podcast, we talk with Tony Barber from Turn in Concepts about Mike Aumick's Time Attack STI, and Tony's Tesla Model 3 that he runs in Time Attack Street Class.

Tony was bringing these two cars that Turn in Concepts supports down to Gridlife Alpine Horizon this month, and since he got into town a bit early, he reached out to see if we would like to take a look at the cars, and maybe put together a video or two.

Of course we said that we did, and we ended up shooting two videos, one on each car. We had two really good conversations about the build and challenges of each car, and I wanted to put them both together in full and put them out as a podcast so you could hear all of both conversations.

There has been a lot going on lately, and we haven't had a chance to sit down to record an episode this week, but I didn't want to miss getting something up. So I went back and pulled up the second half of our conversation with Larry and Drew from Race Comp Engineering. We had a great conversation about valving, but it went long enough that I decided to split it up into two parts.

For part two here, we start off talking about how much of an effect you the driver has on how a car handles. From there, we move on to talk about adjusting compression valving and how that works. And we wrap everything up with a talk about Autocross.

For episode 92 of the Flatirons Syndicate Motorsports Podcast, Ryan, Tasso, and Jon sit down with Hyundai WRC mechanic Heather Holler.

As cool as it is that Heather has been crewing for the Hyundai WRC team for the last 2 years, she has also worked as a mechanic for Dirt Fish, and Vermont Sports Car as well.

Needless to say, we had questions, and it was fantastic to get a much better picture of what it is like to be a mechanic at the highest level of Rally. It is no simple feat to keep these cars together at that high of a level, much to move them all over the world each season.

There is also a great chat at the end about the Jessi Combs Foundation, and how that played a role in Heather's career as a mechanic.
