What authority does civil government actually have under God? And where do Christian nationalism, two-kingdom theology, and natural law fit into the discussion?

On this episode of The Magistrate, Josh Howard and James Baird revisit James's debate with Levi Secord, hosted by Christ Overall, and examine some of the most important disagreements in contemporary Christian political theology.

From the relationship between Scripture and natural law to blasphemy laws, civil justice, COVID restrictions, and the Ten Commandments, Josh and James explore the biblical and philosophical foundations of government.

They also discuss the value of formal debate, the importance of cross-examination, and the differences between modern two-kingdom theology and classical Protestant political thought.

Can Christians disagree about the magistrate's authority while remaining committed to the Lordship of Christ over every sphere of life?

Today’s anniversary episode is going to include three segments…

First, Asia Harvest providentially posted a China report TODAY which will give us a glimpse into “what’s really happening in China” today.

Second, I want to re-read Pastor Wang Yi’s “Declaration of Faithful Disobedience”, which was shared on the China Partnership blog a number of years ago.

Third and finally, just last night I read a testimony from Richard Wurmbrand about an experience his wife Sabina’s had during her 3 year imprisonment in a labor camp in Romania. This was only just published by their son Michael (now 80+) in a recent newsletter for his ongoing Romania ministry, Hope for Refugees.

Why the Prison Pulpit?

The goal for these past two years (hard to believe its already been that long) is to remind Christians to pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters as Hebrews 13:3 clearly teaches us to do:

“Remember those who are in bonds, as bound with them”

On this week's Sentinel Report: President Trump orders no prosecutions of Biden, Clinton, or Obama, citing respect for the “sacred” office of the presidency. Trump Accounts expand to every child in America. DHS raids Ilhan Omar’s home. An Iowa city council opens its meeting with a prayer to Satan. Teen identification as gay or bisexual is in free fall. An aborted baby’s estate wins a $200,000 wrongful-death settlement. Riots spread across France.

Today’s guests:

Pastor Caspar McCloud—virtuoso guitarist, singer, songwriter, author, and senior pastor of The Upper Room Fellowship—joins us as he and his band are featured in the new Stay Awake America rockumentary (narrated by Tommy James, with Gen. Michael Flynn, Kevin & Sam Sorbo, and others). We’ll talk about staying spiritually awake and standing for truth in a chaotic culture.

Bill Armour, Co-Founder & CEO of Grace Precious Metals, breaks down President Trump’s claim that inflation can pay off the $40 trillion national debt “very rapidly,” and what that means for hard assets and your financial future.

Kristin Logan, U.S. Air Force veteran, dual U.S.–Canadian citizen, and stage 4 ovarian cancer survivor, shares her story of being handed a Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) pamphlet before her first oncology appointment—and being forced to flee Canada three times for life-saving care. Featured on Fox, Newsmax, and in two documentaries, she delivers a direct warning about the real cost of “free” socialized healthcare and the expansion of assisted death when treatment is delayed or denied.
