  • Wednesday, Nov 28, 2018 - Welcome to Winter!

And the weather forecast for today, Wednesday, November the 28th 2018.

Well, to sum it up, welcome to winter. Today we're having a high of 67 degrees, a low of 59. It is mostly sunny. So that's not the issue. We just got a cold front that's come through, our winds will be at the North at 18 miles an hour, we're not going to be seeing any rain around there. And actually, it's going to feel a little colder than usual because our humidity is dropping off to 47%.

So mostly sunny skies, those so it'll still be actually just a very, very pleasant day, especially for all the snowbirds that have just recently returned to town - they're gonna love today.

Now, if you're wanting to head out fishing, if you are, please grab a jacket because you'll need it out there on your boat. We have atmospheric pressure that's rising today. 29.97 is where it starts, it was up to 30.12. And then it bobs around a little bit more after that. Uur UV index today comes in at a six. So it's because it's going to be sunny, you can still get a lot of sun exposure coming in. And especially with the winds of 18 miles an hour, you can get burned pretty quickly out there.

Average water temperature  -  we're still holding steady at 78. But it wouldn't surprise me to see that drop a little bit in the next coming days. If we have a day or two have some cold weather sunrise today at 6:43am and sunset will take place at 5:38pm for looking at are tied charts.

Our first high tide is at 12:42am. The next high tide is at 2:36pm. The first low tide will be at 7:41am. And the next low tide at seven 8pm. Today, we've got 10 hours and 45 and minutes of sun and our solar transit will happen at 12:15pm.

Now if you're looking at our tidal coefficient, we've got a low one today. Well, it's lower than normal. It's actually just average on the scale. It's right about 60 and average all day long. So not terrible. And then if you're wanting to get out and do some fishing because you don't mind the cooler temperatures.

Let's talk about the solunar activity. If you're looking at major periods, we have a very high activity like a three on the fish scale activity from 5:08 until 7:08am. Now that's because the lunar transit in In other words, the moon rise is also coinciding with the sunrise. So that makes it like extra good. So be aware. If you want to go out go out early tomorrow, you might have some great fishing, it's going to be a little chilly, though very high fishing activity will also happen from 5:39pm to 7:39pm because that's whenever the moon sets the opposing lunar transit minor periods from 11:56am to 12:56pm.

Even in our minor periods today, we've got pretty high activity like to fish scale activities. So that's from 11:56am to 12:56pm, and from 11:23pm to 12:23am. So take advantage of that if you can, or still in the waxing give us right now. So that's that's where we are with our lunar cycles. So overall, today, if we had to give it a ranking on the fish scale, you're going to get a two so not a bad day at all. And actually tomorrow will be a two as well.

The winds are going to be kicking up though, so be careful if you're out there. No matter what you're doing, whether you're staying inside and whether you're going to be outside and on the water. You're in the Florida Keys and it's beautiful fall so it's always the perfect day to have the perfect day. This weather report is sponsored by 43 keys media. • Tuesday, Nov. 27 - The Start of a Cold Front - Get Out Your Socks!

The weather forecast for today, Tuesday, November 27 2018 for the Key West and the lower keys area. We woke up this morning with some cloud cover. It's going to be partly cloudy all day long. You'll see periods of some sunshine peeking through our high today, 80 degrees are low.

Tonight, 59 degrees,  20% chance of rain wins or north northwest at 18 miles an hour. And we have a 75% relative humidity. I should also mention that we do have a small craft advisory until tomorrow morning at 5am. And I'm sure that's due to the higher than normal wins. So be aware of that. Probably not the best day to take your little small boat out and fishing. If you have a really big boat, you might be doing better than the small ones.

I mentioned that the low is 59 degrees today. We'll talk about that in a moment. But hourly, as the day goes on today, the temperature will be dropping. And tomorrow morning we will wake up about 10 degrees cooler than we did this morning. So that cold front that everyone else in the country is getting ice and snow and blizzard conditions is just dipping down enough to just make us a little more seasonal at this point. So like I say, we do have winds that are pretty steady today so do pay attention to that our visibility today is 14 miles. So it's a it's not a terribly overcast terribly cloudy day. But you just do have some patchy clouds that are rolling through.

Our atmospheric pressure is falling. It's going from 30.0 to 29.91, or UV index is a six today and again, even when it's overcast. And even when you're outside. When you don't feel the sun and the heat beating down on you. You do get those ultraviolet rays. So do pay attention.

Today our water temperature is 78 degrees air temperature on average is going to be about 79. So almost exactly the same there. So a little bit cool. If you're heading out to see this moment, you need to be prepared for 2.6 feet waves. So those will be kicking up as the wind also kicks up our sunrise this morning is it 6:52am sunset will be at 5:38pm we look at our tide charts.

Our first low tide is at 6:42am. And the next low tide is it six o'clock pm. The only high tide of the day is at 134. So it's another one high tide day today. Today we're down to 10 hours and 46 minutes of total sunshine. Our title coefficient today this morning is going to be about a 70 then it drops to 65. It's still high, but not as high as we've been seeing it. Also if you're looking at the saloon or activity, let's talk about what you can do to get some good fishing in. So today we have major periods, which is during the lunar transit when the moon is rising 4am to 610, 14 am, I should say, just 6:10am. And then another period of high activity which is extra special today, because that moon set that opposing lunar transit also is concurring with sunset. So you can get a lot more activity there. This is going to be from 4:42pm to 6:42pm minor periods of activity 11:05am to 12:05pm.

So we've got a one fish ranking on the solar activity chart doesn't mean it's completely not worth going out. But definitely know that we have some better days coming. And some of those are going to be tomorrow also where we see the significant dip in temperature. So be prepared for that. It doesn't really matter if you have outdoor activities today you'll have just some patchy rain. So just pay attention to that no matter where you are in the keys and what you're doing. Whether you're working whether you're playing or whether you're just chillin out. Hey, you're in the keys, so it's always the perfect day to have a perfect day.

  • Monday, Nov. 26 - Last Day of Summer Before Winter Comes Tomorrow

Happy Cyber Monday to you. Today is Monday November the 26th 2018.

Today we have partly cloudy skies. Winds coming from the southwest around seven miles an hour or high temperature today reach 83 degrees low tonight. 76 degrees. It's going to feel about 91 degrees if you're outside during the day to day because we have a 70% humidity level we have falling barometric pressure today. Going from 30.00 to 29.88.

You won't see a chance of rain today. And our UV index is a six which is fairly high. So do make sure when you're out if you're in the sunshine, you're not in the shade. take some precautions where your sunblock and make sure you stay safely hydrated. Today's water temperature around the lower keys still holding steady. Today's water temperature around the lower Key West area is 78 degrees. air temperature being 83 degrees. It's going to feel a little bit cooler when you get in that water today. Right now you need to be prepared for waves of around two feet if you're heading off shore. Not a huge wave day with our winds down around seven miles an hour. So not much going on there.

Sunrise today is 6:43am and today is sunset will occur at 5:38pm. We look at our tight charts. Our first low tide is at 5:47am. And the next low tide 5:04pm. If you're looking at high tides, the first 11:38am and the next high tide will be at 11:44pm. Today we have 10 hours and 47 minutes of sun and the solar transit is at 1214 our title coefficient today at one which is relatively high. If you're planning on being out on the water today, it's going to be pretty comfortable. Today we have zero on the fish scale based on the saloon or activities. So today our major periods of activity are from 3:11am to 5:11am like it's a one fish activity level.

Because our afternoon lunar transit whenever the moon is setting also coincides with sunset there's also the possibility that there will be a little higher fish activity than normal and that time is from. We don't really have much going on the low activity periods are not even registering on the scale so not a great day on the saloon or charts to go out but it also is great temperatures and we also have good wind speeds today as we look to the rest of the week we will be having a little bit of a cool down so you know what's going to happen there that's going to change where the fish are, it's going to change the fish activity.

So as we go on into the week we get a little bit better fish activity based on saloon or charts and that sort of be ready for a cool down tomorrow. Today is probably your last Good day of sweating outside if you're doing some work. So make sure you take advantage of that. And then tomorrow you'll notice a cool down as the day goes on.

So no matter where you are, and no matter really what you're fishing for a bad day out on the water is better than a great day in the office. So go ahead, get out there. Do what you need to do. And no matter where you are. Remember you live in the beautiful Florida Keys that makes it the perfect day to have a perfect day.

  • Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018 - Some Rain but There Is Still Some Fish to Be Caught!

It's another Sunday fun day here in the Florida Keys today is Sunday, November the 25th. And we've got a little bit of mixed bag for the weather. Today, we do have a high temperature of 84 degrees low of 74, we have a 20% chance of rain. And that's I'll tell you about the hours for that in just a moment. The winds are going to be from the west, seven miles an hour, and our humidity is going to be 75%. If you're looking at actual times whenever you're going to be dealing with some patchy rain mainly during daylight hours. So from 6am or so we're going to be having about an 81% chance of rain. And then it's going to drop as we go throughout the day. by the afternoon you're looking at, you know, 60%, and then it drops off even after four o'clock to like 20%. So there will be a chance for you to get out on the water. If you want to today just dodged some of those storms that might be rolling in. We have falling atmospheric pressure. Today, it's going from 30.0 to 29.88.

Our UV index is high. It's still a six. It's not as high as it could be. But it's definitely high. So if you're out there during times, whenever we don't have a lot of cloud cover. definitely make sure you take precautions and you wear your sunscreen and your other sun protection. Our temperature on the water is still 78 degrees. That's solid all day long. And we've had that for now about a week and a half. And so till we get some more significantly cooler weather. That's probably what we'll be looking at for a little while the sunrise today is 6:43am and sunset will be at 5:38pm. If we look at our tide charts. The first low tide is at 4:56am. And the next low tide will be at 4:17pm. The first high tide we're going to see it 11:46am and the next high tide at 1050 54 Pm in total. Today we will have 10 hours and 47 minutes of sun just keeps a whittling away so we get less and less every day.

Today we're back with another high tidal coefficient. It's going to be about 89 for all day long. So be aware of that you're going to have a much higher second high tide then we will the first high tide so you'll notice that if you're out and about on the water. So if we look at the saloon our activity today now we've actually passed our full moon. So now we're into the waning give us phase. And that's not as great for so lunar activity. And so today we've got a couple of major periods and a couple of minor periods. The high activity is from to 12am to 4:12am. And that's whenever the lunar transit the moon rising is happening. And then the second period is from 2:41pm until 4:41pm. And that's the opposing lunar transit or the moon setting. The minor periods where you've kind of got, you know, one fish level activity is 908 to 10:08am, which is when moon set happens, and from 8:14pm to 9:14pm, when moonrise happens so overall the average on the fishing scale today is you're going to get essentially a one fish day now tomorrow is a zero fish day and then Tuesday we're back to one fish and as the week goes on, we do get some better fishing activity so just be aware that there might be some better days to go fishing.

Although with the seven mile an hour winds it's very tempting and I heard some fisherman that were fishing on Friday saying how you know once they got out on the Gulf Stream It was really really calm waters so something to pay attention to still a lot of my he biting and still people are getting tuned up no reason to not take advantage of it just because you've got the saloon or charts not working with you. So feel free to take advantage of that. No matter where you are and what you do on this Sunday. Fun Day. It's always the perfect day to have a perfect day in the Florida Keys. • Wednesday, Nov. 21 - Not a Bad Day to Hit the Reef for Fishing

Welcome to Wednesday, November 21, the day before Thanksgiving, and we've got some great weather on tap for you. Today we've got partly cloudy skies with a low of 71 degrees and a high of 81 degrees, a 20% chance of rain. Just slight chance of a shower. As you're out and about winds coming from the north. At nine miles an hour, our humidity is backed up to 74% so it's still feeling very much like summertime sunrise today 6:45am sunset is at 5:36pm. Now if you're looking to try to get a little bit of pre Thanksgiving fishing in just understand what you're dealing with.

We've got rising barometric pressure, which is generally good overall. for fishing, we're going from 30.06 to 30.15, our UV index is still a seven. So do make sure sure you're taking precautions and wearing sunscreen, hats, ups, clothing and that sort of thing. Water temperature still 78 degrees. So it's going to be a little warmer in the air than it is in the water today. So just be aware of that you need to have a towel to wrap in whenever you get out of the water. And looking at our tied chart today. The first low tide is it to a 1am and the next low tide is at 1:43pm. The first high tide is at 8:39am. And the next high tide is an 8:14pm total towers of sunshine for today, 10 hours and 51 minutes. It's shaving a minute or two off every single day as we get towards the shortest day of the year, December 21, the tidal coefficient for today is right around 90 - 89 in the morning and 92 in the afternoon. So you're going to be looking at heights of wave heights between foot and a half to two feet. So just be aware of that as you're out and about.

Now if you're looking at your saloon or activity for today, we've got some major periods. The high activity whenever you're talking about the moon setting, the opposing lunar transit has a high activity time we're talking about fishing activity at 10:56am to 12:56pm. And also when the lunar transit is happening. Whenever the moon is rising, which is 11:25pm to 1:25am tomorrow. There are minor periods of what we call average activity. And so those are between five to 8pm and 6:02am, and that's when moon set is happening. And then 4:50pm to 5:50pm. And this is also moon rise and because moonrise today also coincides with the sun setting, there might possibly be some greater than average activity for that minor period of fishing. So you might want to take your chances that's a 450 to 550. So right around sunset and just a little bit after you might have some good bites there, save your dinner plans. So two more days until our full moon so I'm sure we'll see some changes with that.

And then at the same time, if you're looking at the fishing scale, the fishing scale today is a one fish on a scale of three tomorrow it goes to two fish and Friday it goes to three fish. So that's my fishing day is Friday. So I hope you'll come out and join us as well. But get out anytime you can. With the low wins. It's not going to be terrible to be out on the water and still really great temperatures and only partly cloudy skies. So only a slight chance of passing shower. So whatever you're doing to prepare for the holidays and you have to be grateful for where we live in the most beautiful areas in the world. And enjoy your islands and enjoy some time with the family. Do whatever you can do no matter what it's the perfect day to have a perfect day. • Tuesday, Nov. 20 - It's Thaw Out Your Turkey Day and a Great Day to Go Fishing in Key West

Happy "Thaw Your Turkey Out Tuesday" everyone, it's time for a look at the weather forecast for the greater Key West area in the lower Florida Keys. Today we wake up with partly cloudy skies highs of 84 degrees lows of 74. We have a 20% chance of rain. It'll be a little bit patchy wins or low out of the east of six miles an hour. And our humidity is 71%. As I mentioned, we are just a couple of days away from Thanksgiving. So if you haven't thawed out your turkey yet, it's time to take it from the freezer to the fridge and let it sit there for the next 24 hours before you do anything else with it. Make sure it's thought out.

So with that little tip if you're planning on giving up Turkey and heading out on the water for fishing, overall fishing conditions are generally good. We have rising atmospheric pressure. Today it's going to be going from 30.03 30.12. So that means there's some activity going on. It's always good to know that we do have wins decreasing further in the afternoon. So it will get a little more calm out on the water or UV index is going to be a seven today. So do make sure if you're out in the sunshine. Even if you're out consistently all day when it's overcast or you're seeing a lot of cloud cover. You still can get some ultraviolet radiation from the sun. So please make sure you're even wearing sunscreen. whenever it's cloudy. We have had a change in our water temperature around the lower keys area. It was holding steady at 80 degrees for the last several weeks actually. And now with our few days of cooler temperatures. As well as some rain we now have a water temperature of 78 degrees. It's going to be a fairly calm day out on the water you need to be prepared for swells off shore to only reach about two feet if you're heading off shore. So not a bad day out on the water to make some fishing happen.

Our sunrise today is 6:47am sunset is at 5:39pm for the high tide and low tide charts. The first low tide is going to be at 128. And the next low tide is at 1:10pm. The first high tide is at 751. And the next high tide is going to be at 7:40pm today will have a total of 10 hours and 52 minutes of daylight. And the solar transit is at 12:13pm.

Our tidal coefficient today is at which is high and it means that there will be a range of tides and currents that will also be high as the tide switch.

Let's talk about the major and the minor periods of fishing activity today if you're looking and going by the saloon or tables, so high activity whenever we have the opposing lunar transit of the moon setting is going to be from 10:08am to 12:08pm. So that's a two hour period. Then we also we're going to have high activity whenever the moon is in the lunar transit of rising so it's going to be from 10:36pm to 12:36am. Also within that we've got minor periods where we have moonrise and Moon set so the minor periods of great fishing activity are from and from 4:11 to 5:11pm. So something to keep in mind if you're heading out on the water. Not a lot of wind. Not a lot of rain or 20% chance today so you can still dodge it but also fairly calm seas, which is something that we haven't seen lately. So enjoy your fishing. Don't forget to get your turkey out. Make sure it's all thought if you're having a fish fry for Thanksgiving, my hats off to you as well. No matter what. It's the perfect day to have a perfect day.

Happy Monday everyone. Today is Monday November the 19th. Today we have a mixed bag of weather. We're going to have partly cloudy skies. There are some rain showers in the area. About a 20% chance of rain. high temperature today at three degrees. Winds will be East northeast between 10 and 15 miles an hour. Sunrise today occurs at 6:44am sunset occurs at 5:37pm moon rises. A 3:31pm and Moon set is a 3:08pm. The relative humidity is holding steady at 66%.

High Temperature today 83; low overnight of 75 degrees.

The atmospheric pressure today is on the rise going from 30.0 to 30 point to one that happens mostly in the afternoon. Also this afternoon. Getting a little more partly cloudy with some of those words dying down UV index for today is six. So if you are out in those periods of sunshine, please make sure you protect yourself. Today the water temperature is holding steady 80 degrees. When we look at the tide charts for today. The first low tide will be at 12:36am and the next low tide 12:38pm. The first high tide is a 6:59am and the next high tide is it seven 8pm. Today we have again 10 hours and 53 minutes of sunshine. If you're looking to fish today, the fish Gail is giving us a one on the activity scales. So remember, three is the highest, hey, at least it's not a zero, right.

If you're wanting to go fishing today, though, the times you're going to have the most activity based on the saloon or tables are going to be between about 9am and 11am. And again tonight between 10pm and midnight. So keep that in mind if you're going by that to try to determine the best times to be out in the water and fishing as far as fishing activity goes. Our title coefficient today is 70. That's a high title coefficient. So there's a much bigger high tide than there will be a low tide today. So just be prepared for that. And as you're looking planning for the week as you've got Thanksgiving plans wanted to give you just a quick tip. It looks like Friday Friday Friday is going to be back up to a three fish day on the saloon or activity. • Sunday, Nov. 18th - Sunday Funday in Key West Starts with Some Rain

Welcome to Sunday fun day. Today is Sunday, November the 18th. We're heading into a holiday week and this morning we're starting with some rain showers early on, but we will have some sunshine later on in the day. Highs today at two degrees winds East northeast 10 to 15 miles an hour or chance of rain is holding steady at 40%.

The relative humidity will be at 68. Today's UV index is only a four out of 10. I know that's because of the weather. We're seeing our sunrise is happening at 6:44am sunset is 5:37pm. Today we actually have 10 hours and 53 minutes of sunshine. So those days are getting shorter and shorter all the way up until just over a month from now or atmospheric pressure will be slightly false. Today from 30.1 to 230 point 03 all day long. The wind is going to hold steady. We will be seeing some of those clouds break and some sunshine later on in the afternoon. And those chances of rain will be diminishing in the afternoon as well.

High Tide today will be at 6:01am. The second high tide will be at 6:35pm. The only low tide of the day will occur at 12:04pm. The solar transit is 12:12pm. Today's title coefficient for the whole day is about 58 which is average. And that's just again the amplitude of the tides that are coming in. So we're not dealing with any extremely high or extremely low tides today. So keep that in mind today. If you're looking at getting out on the water again, that wind is going to be gusting between 10 to 15 miles an hour. If you're like me when you get into those double digit wins when you never know what you're going to deal with out on the water. So do be careful. There will be zero fish on the fish scale. Today it's not a great day for fishing, maybe this afternoon will be a great day to head out to the sandbar head out to some Sunday fun day activities. Do some other things that maybe fishing is not the best thing for today. a rainy day in the Florida Keys is better than a day with beautiful weather anywhere else. All in all a perfect day to have a perfect day. This weather report is brought to you by 43 keys media. Visit http://43keys.com to learn more about our beautiful Florida Keys.

  • Saturday, Nov. 17th - Cooler Temps and Some Rain in Key West

Weather forecast for today, Saturday, September 17. We've got some rain coming in. We've got some patchy rain with some pretty heavy cloud cover the high temperature today 77 degrees.A low temperature tonight is 58 degrees and our humidity is 69%. And visibility today is about 15 miles. Those winds all day long, or holding steady between 14 and 16 miles per hour or atmospheric pressure is rising 30.032 30.12, our UV index is only a six today. And I'm sure that's because of all the cloud cover. But if we do have patches of sunshine, do make sure you take your precautions today is an unusual day and that the water temperature is 80 degrees. But the air temperature it's only 77 degrees. So it's going to feel a little chilly when you get out of the water today.

Now we do have significant winds today and significant wave height. So at this moment, you need to be prepared for a wave of 7.8 feet before heading off shore. So if you're prepared for that, and you can take it you've taken your drama may 3 things then go for it. Now today our sunrise is at 6:45am and sunset is at 5:40pm. Today's high tide is at 4:51am. And the next one is it six o'clock pm the first low tide 11:25am and the next low tide is 11:47pm. So those days are getting shorter. Today we have 10 hours and 55 minutes of daylight. And our solar transit is happening at 12:12pm. So if you're thinking about getting on the water today for saloon or activity, we don't even have any fish registered on the fish scale. So it is a zero fish day which means probably not going to have a lot of activity but you've got high winds as well and the high seas so it might be a good day to stay in. Get some chores done ahead of thanksgiving all at all. Whether you're inside or whether you're outside. • Friday, November 16th - Cooler Temps and Lower Humidity

Today's weather forecast is sponsored by 43 keys, media, go to 43 keys calm to learn about the weather, and all other aspects of our beautiful Florida kings. Today, November 16, it's Friday and you're going to wake up with a little bit of a chill in the air. We have overnight low of 68 degrees and a high of only 74 today and a zero percent chance of rain.

So it's going to be sunny and beautiful all day long. There will be about a 15 mile an hour wind blowing from the north. The humidity is also going to drop and it's going to be at 60% so it will feel a lot more pleasant and more temperate. So get out and enjoy that! The UV index is still really high six out of 10. Sunrise is at 6:42am sunset 5:37pm and the moment eyes is 1:44pm with a moon set of 12:31am and today our atmospheric pressure is rising. So we're going to have it going from 29.94 to 30.06 about mid afternoon so you'll see some good fishing activity.

Then we also have the water temperature still holding steady 80 degrees because of the winds we're going to have some significant waves today. So definitely pay attention to that low tide starts at 10:39am and the next low tide is at 10:45pm. And our high tide is 3:34am and 5:19pm.

So in those tide switching periods between 7am and 9am and about 8pm to 10pm you're going to see the highest fish activity today we have a title coefficient of 39 in the morning 43 in the afternoon. So basically it's the difference between the highest high tide and the lowest low tide so there's not that big of a difference between wave height between those tides so still going to be between 1.7 feet and 1.5 feet as the high tide and dropping a between point six and point nine feet at the low tide. So I'm not a huge difference there. Just a matter of inches.

If we had to rank today on the fish scale, it is a two fish day, so not a bad day. Do be mindful of the winds are going to be gusting between 10 and 20 miles an hour today for an overall average of about 15 miles an hour. So do pay attention to that and no matter what it's the perfect day to have a perfect day. This weather forecast is brought to you by 43 keys media.
