After a nearly ten month slog we have arrived at the inaugural USL Super League Final - and it features the two sides we’ve been covering all season, the Tampa Bay Sun and Fort Lauderdale United. We break down the matchup and discuss how we got here in this preview pod.
The Rowdies despite an absolutely wretched start to the season are now showing real signs of life. The next five matches in the league are all winnable so the Rowdies could charge up the table.
We discuss it here.
The inaugural USL Super League Playoffs will feature both active Florida clubs. Fort Lauderdale hangs on to a 1-1 draw in Spokane thanks to Cosette Morché.
We also discuss last weekend's USL Cup action which was end-to-end fun with the Rowdies winning for the first time in two months. Miami FC and FC Naples played out one of the most enjoyable football matches Kartik has seen in person in years, with Miami just edging it in the end.
We also discuss the departure of Cammy MacPherson from the Tampa Bay Rowdies and what the Rowdies need to do to improve.
A fun night in Florida reviewed!
Lots to discuss this week - we talk about a few Floridians excelling in Europe in addition to Tampa Bay securing a home playoff match in the USL Super League, Fort Lauderdale closing in on a spot and of course our usual Rowdies/Miami FC conversations.
Rowdies got a draw in Lexington. It was a poor match but some definite positives.
We discuss the week that was in Florida Soccer both in USL’s three men’s divisions and on the women’s side as well as in The League for Clubs Gulf Coast Conference.
Please tell me why Robbie Neilson was fired again? Tampa Bay has one point in five successive USL Championship home matches and three points overall and matches in all competitions in succession with all matches played along the West Coast of Florida since Neilson was sacked.
We attempt to unpack all the problems in this conversation.
The quick collapse of the Tampa Bay Rowdies from top three side in the USL Championship at the end of July 2024 to being at the foot of the table ten months later (and looking increasingly uncompetitive) is fully discussed. Is it the fault of ownership? What about injuries? Roster construction? Management?
We go through it all on this week’s podcast.
We recap a busy weekend and look ahead to the Open Cup clash at Al Lang Stadium between Tampa Bay and Orlando City.
