In this live podcast episode, I have a lively chat with a public speaking coach, Amand Fuel, about the importance of bringing an experience to your audience.   Amanda shares how meaningful presenting to a live audience can be when you bring authenticity and transformation to the stage.  Being able to get your audience engaged with your speech is more than just asking people to raise their hands or share a few thoughts after. Amanda has a wonderful way that she gets her audience into the moment, asking them to share with each other!   She explains how to do this in one easy step, ask!  

Amanda shares, " So as an example of massive audience engagement, what if you could turn your audience into speakers and I mean, it's a teachers and engage the part of their brain that has to explain it, and like, make some sense of it. Really get it through their whole body and system in a different way and out their mouths. And a classic way to do this, that's an oldie but goodie, and is very rarely used anymore. It's just to have a moment in your speech, take a five minutes of your speech, which is a chunk for a speaker, but like five minutes to have one audience member turn to their neighbor, and just teach them something they've learned."    When you give your audience a chance to engage themselves in your presentation, you're really giving them a transformational experience of you! Amazing!

 During our conversation, she shared that heavy weight lifting is the key to keeping the weight off. However, for women that can be a scary place to start.  For starters, many women have little experience with the gym.   She explains, "[women] don't have any experience working in a weight room, we don't have any experience working with weights,  we see a lot of women most I would say that come to me, especially my gym would be really afraid they were going to hurt themselves with the weights. So you know, it's really gratifying to teach women how to do weight lifting, weight training, and have them increase, you increase your weight slowly over time. In this episode, I sit down and chat with productivity expert Mary Gaul and have a conversation about how to create a powerful plan to follow up with others in a professional way.   

If we're being honest as business owners we often get caught up in the day-to-day of life and simply forget to follow up. It's great when business is humming along and you're making all the money you want, but are you leaving money on the table when you don't follow up?  According to Mary, you are!  She shares that she uses follow-up reminders so "when I'm sending that email saying, Hey, let's I'd love to talk to you. Here's my calendar link. But then if you never follow up with them, they never booked the appointment, then that's one lead that just you know, disappeared. So by you just following up two weeks later, it looks like you're professional, you're on top of it, you really do want to have that conversation with them."  Give yourself some grace and use a process and planning tool to help you make sure you're following up with those referral clients and never let another potential dollar disappear again.

Receiving money from your clients is one of the most exhilarating experiences as a solopreneur. During our conversation she gave some great insights. Alison's tip, "a lot of businesses will do invoices, and that's fine, you can totally do that. But I think if you're able to take it from like that part of the process is just about the money exchange of money, but it's the exchange of money. And then we're actually scheduling the next step. It's like, include, it's like, in the middle of the before we put our next meeting on the calendar, this is the thing that happens. So I encourage people to literally just say, so this is the this is how my process works."  When you move from passively receiving income via invoices to actively asking and handling the money, you gain an opportunity to connect with your new client even before the work begins.

In this episode, I chat with Alison Proffit of Proffit Coach about the benefits of selling your services even if you aren't 100% done with their creation.   

Pre-selling your services gives you the opportunity to get some cash flowing into your pockets, but there are many more benefits than just cash.  Alison explains that when you're in a sales conversation it's not about explaining all the little details it's about selling the transformative experience.  

She says"obviously, we as the service provider, we might get hung up on that. Well, I don't know all of the how yet. And it's like, but you're not selling them on all the how they care about what's the transformation. And so you already know what the transformation is, without all the mechanical details of how you're going to package it. It's really thinking about, like, you're not changing what you're doing, you're just changing how you're packaging it."  When you are creating new groups or packages for your business, remember the 80/20 rule. When you're 80% of the way done go sell to 20% of the people you want to get into the class!

  She points out," So when you're looking at your plan, and you set your goals for the year, hopefully, you've kind of broken them down into smaller goals for the quarter, even the month or the week so that you know how you're moving forward into those bigger year, year-long goals...we don't get to November. And we're like, oh my gosh, I got one month left to the year to get this golden, right.."  Give yourself a leg up for achieving your goals! In this episode, I sit down to chat with public speaking coach Amanda Fuel about what to do when you have to show up but feel like you just want to cancel the whole thing!  It happens to us all, we schedule a speaking gig or presentation then the big day arrives and for some reason, we just aren't feeling ourselves and want to say "not today!" 

 Well, Amanda has a wonderful little saying that she uses to pull her through such times.    Her favorite pick-me-up from the blues is "Get down with the downs, and don't let them get you down!" Amanda shares, "that works for me [because] I'm like, you know, so get down with me, like, Hey, I'm done with this. I'm okay with it. I'm okay to not be perfect all the time and be in a perfect mood all the time. I recognize that there's gonna be ups and downs in life. So I'm down with the downs. They're my homies. I bring them in. Her advice is, "Our nerves are what causes us to be talking and talking and trying to fill in the gap or like over informing or giving too many details. That's your nerves. So app, say tell me more and then just take a breath. And we've talked about the power of breath in your sales conversations, right? I mean, sales is, it seems like the super scary and complex thing, but at the core of it, it's pretty simple. It's it's being in the moment, being curious and allowing that person to share more about what's going on and then you're listening and if you're talking you can't be listening."
