Today’s mix is all Boards of Canada, following their release of Inferno, their first album in 13 years. We put together a tracklist and sourced 18 recommendations from the community, with three tracks being recommended twice. This mix covers all of Boards of Canada’s LPs – from 1998 to 2026 – as well as several EPs and a remix of Boom Bip. The focus is instrumentals, though a vocal moment here or there was hard to avoid. Attributions of recommendations are under the corresponding tracks. There’s a longer free preview available on this one. We hope you enjoy.

Jazz comes from Aaron Shaw (new album) and Nala Sinephro. We play a couple experimental finds: a solo guitar impromptu by Master Wilburn Burchette and a loungey track by the… Lounge Lizards (via an Angine de Poitrine interview). We found an orchestral instrumental cover of George Harrison’s “Beware of Darkness” by Mary Fahl. The pace picks up with Mammo, Paperclip Minimiser, and Youandewan. There are two tracks by Skee Mask (one a vinyl rip). The mix concludes with André 3000’s breakneck rendition of “My Favorite Things” from The Love Below. We hope you enjoy.

Today’s mix is a label edit of greyfade, a New York based label founded in 2019. The label was started by producer and designer Joseph Branciforte dedicated to experimental music and “system-based works.” The idea is that an album is a conceptual universe made up of sound, arrangement, physical material, artwork, and text. The mix includes works by taylor deupree, Phillip Golub, Greg Davis, Catherine Lamb, Kenneth Kirschner, and more. There’s a Flow State edit of a piano loop by Golub. Check out more of the label’s collection on Bandcamp, including Branciforte’s new collaboration with Belgian jazz musician Jozef Dumoulin. This mix is available to everyone. We hope you enjoy.

We play two tracks from Corntuth’s forthcoming LP on Flow State Records (due out in July). Then, new music by SUSS, Alanna Crouch, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Abul Mogard & Rafael Anton Irisarri, and Seefeel. We end with Angine de Poitrine whose microtonal math rock is sensational. Today’s mix is inspired by the Artemis II mission to the moon, which yesterday set the record for the farthest humans have ever been from earth. The mix plays space-themed instrumental music by Brian Eno, Ashra, Mort Garson, Applefish, Soft Machine, and more. There are two pieces from Alex North’s rejected score for 2001: A Space Odyssey as well as a piece from Matt Morton’s all-Moog score for the 2019 documentary Apollo 11. On Sunday, Artemis crew member Victor Glover radioed in these extemporaneous remarks: “You guys are talking to us because we’re in a spaceship really far from Earth, but you’re on a spaceship called Earth… Maybe the distance we are from you makes you think what we’re doing is special, but you’re the same distance from us... In all of this emptiness – this is a whole bunch of nothing, this thing we called the universe – you have this oasis, this beautiful place where you get to exist, together.”

Today’s mix opens with an instrumental by Ethel Cain, whose ambient works we discovered via the gentle voices guest mix. We continue with more ambient pieces by Lauren Helene Green, Chantal Michelle, Meg Bowles, Vinnie Who, and David August. We play an early selection from The Caretaker’s magnum opus, Everywhere at the End of Time. Then some piano pieces by Alfa Mist and Jesse Hackett before playing SUSS’s new single, “Sunset II.” We recently discovered Acetone’s chill cover of “Midnight Cowboy” by John Barry. Then drums come in with Rejoicer, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Superpitcher, and Makam. Los Destellos play a cumbia cover of Beethoven’s “Für Elise.” Towards the end there’s dub techno by Priori, a disco instrumental by The Funkin’ Machine, and a video game-like track by prodBigMike called “iluvslapbass.” We hope you enjoy.
