Many love songs and stories about relationships that we grew up hearing capture a strong view of true love. They often suggest that love comes with pain and struggle, making us feel that we need to work hard for love to last.

This often masks something deeper — codependency. When someone tells us, “I’ll always be there for you,” it can feel comforting, but it might also hint at an unhealthy kind of dependence. 

So in this episode, I explain how Codependency can deeply impact how we view ourselves and can tie our self-worth to how others perceive us. This can lead to anxiety and feelings of low self-esteem. Over time, the emotional weight of this can keep us trapped in a cycle that feels hard to break. It’s exhausting and can leave us feeling drained.

A question I often hear from clients, friends, and family is, "Can toxic relationships be healed?" It's a big question, so I want to focus specifically on toxic relationships in couples. Toxic dynamics can arise in any relationship—family, friendships, work—but romantic partnerships often carry extra emotional weight. Can these relationships be healed?

As Children, we are especially vulnerable to trauma, relying on caregivers for safety. When caregivers are unable to provide us with the necessary support, we develop coping mechanisms. These strategies might help us survive the moment but can create challenges in adulthood. In this episode, I talk about how certain behaviours we experience as adults are rooted in traumatic experiences in our childhood.

Impostor syndrome can be rooted in childhood experiences, such as consistently receiving praise only when exceeding expectations.
