How are you doing listeners?
Are you feeling the distance? We sure are! Not only do Emma and Jess live in different countries now, but they have had 5 trips to visit each other cancelled since October. Lockdown 3 is tough everyone! How can we keep connected?
We thought this week it would be nice to revisit this gem from season 1 - full of ideas of how to stay in touch with love ones you can't cuddle in person. Emma also highlights in the new intro a gorgeous charity called Migrateful where you can send or join your loved ones on a virtual cooking course. Food always brings us together right? *munch munch munch*
Here's what we said last time:
Your Fluff Hosts are very experienced in Relationships at a Distance! Now that the whole world are engaging in virtual communications with loved ones; in Fluff style we bring you our Top Tips along with some wild anecdotes. We explore both romantic relationships & treasured family & friend relationships. Distance can bring FUN & creativity to help support the emotions that come with not seeing your chosen people’s faces

This year one of the biggest thing we have learned is that 'home' is such and important place. It's our sanctuary, our place of rest, our place to play, and our place to LIVE. For many of us, its kinda also become a place of work. Though we may be itching to get OUT of our homes, we still know that investing in our spaces has definitely become a priority. This summer Jess and Emma both moved, Jess from room to room, Emma across the country, but this has meant that your Fluff hosts have been given blank slates and the exciting opportunity to NEST. 6 months later and we're still working away - framing pictures, building terrariums, up-cycling furniture. Nesting has become our favourite pastime!
Here is what we said about the original episode:
Everybody deserves their own slice of a tranquil sanctuary. If you are a Renter it can sometimes be uninspiring or too much effort to gift yourself decor for your soul. It can also feel like too much of an investment if your home feels ‘temporary’. Or maybe you are like Jess and always say “when I am bigger I will have...”? (And then you are in your 30’s)
Luckily Emma is extremely experienced in budget but brilliant decorating and in this episode we inspire you that you are WORTHY of investing in your space. Happy Space = Happier Mind.
With massive brush strokes of LAUGHTER join us in this episode with self-confessed “know it all” Emma & a buzzing Jess with her new bedroom and get your creative minds ticking! #staycation2020
Plus a lovely Meowment for Chilli Cat 🌶

Listeners! It's the Season 1 finale! This week Jess and Emma complete their trilogy of Volunteering and Kindness episodes as well as their first season of the podcast by talking about ways to share the love with people experiencing homelessness this winter. As Covid has swept across the world, this year more than ever, our communities need more love and support from those who are able to give.
Jess and Emma talk about their own experiences of volunteering in homeless shelters and also highlight charities in London, Toronto and Edinburgh that you might want to support this year.
The episode finishes off with a little recap of Fluff's journey across the last 9 months and of course a bit too much information about Jess and Emma's bodily fluids. Thank you Listeners - see you in 2021!

It is always important to support the loneliness that our elders may experience; but as this may be heightened in the holiday season, Fluff are here to deliver our creative ideas for how to connect and raise the spirits of our older loved ones, at a distance.
.
.
We discuss the health impacts of loneliness and share stories from our own work of using the Arts to support the health of older people; and why the Arts truly does help!
.
.
There is lots of advice available on the internet including from @ageuk@yegmealsonwheels @alzscot@volunteer.edinburgh@jacksons_lanecl ;as referred to in this episode. Do look at telephone support lines available for older ones that are open 365 days, 24/7, which may provide a vital listening ear to isolated elders.
