It can be exciting and a bit overwhelming to select the right equipment and gear to get started. There’s so many gadgets to choose from!  The reality is that a hemostat, clippers, tippet holder, whistle, flys (of course!) and a few other key pieces are all most beginners need to get out on the water to begin their fly fishing experience. After that you can add new items as you go. Today the FGF girls are talking about the most basic essentials you’ll need to get a good start on the water.

One of the most important pieces of equipment you’ll ever need when you’re out on the water are boots to keep your feet comfortable, warm, and dry.  Boots are a key part in keeping your feet happy, and when your feet are happy, you’ll be out there fishing longer. Tori is the Social Media Manager for the Georgia Women’s Fly Fishing Club. She stays up-to-date on the latest hashtags while showcasing GWFF members in rivers and creeks across the state to boost the club’s online presence and share their stories! Tori is currently working to become a professional fishing guide with the goal of sharing the sport with as many folks as possible.
