  • Have the Attitude of Jesus - Philippians 2:5-8
Do you measure up to the attitude Jesus had? I don't think any of us could say we can match Jesus when it comes to humility. What is humility anyway, but an accurate assessment of ourselves in relation to others. We can't even understand what he gave up. What is God asking you to release? Where can you give up your rights so that he becomes visible?

  • The Unfairness of Our Faith - Philippians 2:3-4
The unfairness of our faith. Do you tend to get selfish? In our last episode, we talked about the command to avoid complaining and grumbling. Paul's command is a logical outcome of a thought he begins in Chapter 2 verses 3 and 4. We're told that the life of a Jesus-follower is a life that has an additional requirement. It's not fair. If we don't follow Jesus, we're free to look out for ourselves only. But if we follow Jesus, we must also look out for others.

It's All About Your Attitude with Roger Courville, ep#25

    2:49 - Roger's background

    Root Cause

Life is long, but it seems to speed by us during certain times. The speed is a common problem in our everyday lives. Whether we are on "auto-pilot" or just going through the motions, sometimes we miss what is at the core of our being. The core is the root cause of something and that core seems to give us paralysis. How do we trace our steps back to the root cause and plan a course of action to achieve our goals? Roger confronts this in this episode with Mike. He likes to get at the root cause of our struggles, goals, ambitions, and achievements. This inspires the most important thing, though. Giving real brainpower to root causes can not only help us correct our course but can also enlighten us to many more solutions than we thought possible.

    Attitude Speaks Volumes

Attitude is spoken about in every facet of life. Your attitude is directly correlated with your success in any given situation and the same goes for being a marketplace missionary. What attitude should I have today, should I have every day? What attitude should I use when things aren't going my way or when opportunities present themselves to me? Roger talks about the type of attitude you should have when developing yourself in the workplace. Are we thinking of it transactionally? Or Relationally? Thinking relationally is one of the key aspects of workplace missionary success!

    Currency for Relationship

What is the currency for a relationship? The answer is trust. Your best friend (spouse or otherwise) is not your best friend because of everything they know about you but because you trust them with everything they know. It is a two-way street. God is the same way. Trusting in the Word is important. How do we spend that currency? Can we spend that currency? When you have a strong relationship with God you begin to notice that other people react to you differently than before. This is not a coincidence! Roger even gives us a powerful story on this message during the interview.

  • One Way God Uses Your Work for His Glory - Philippians 2:14-15
Do you whine and complain? How many times every day do you have something negative to say about someone or a circumstance? How often do you use the word "they"? Our complaining and grumbling exposes some of the places where we fail to trust Jesus. When we trust Jesus enough to stop complaining, God becomes visible. This is one way God uses your work for His glory. Others may even ask you, why. Why not try it today?

  • What does it take to be a Disciple - Part 4 - Matthew 28:18-20
How hard is it to be a disciple of Jesus? What are we told to do to "make disciples?" Mike examines this further in light of the Great Commission and the opportunities we have to influence others in the workplace? The emphasis is on us, we must teach, but with our lives. In our present age, fewer and fewer people are interested in coming to a class or an event hosted by a church. We must live a life that demonstrated our faith in Jesus. God will help those around us learn of him through our actions.

  • What does it take to be a Disciple - Part 3 - John 8:31
Jesus only calls his disciples by the term, disciple a couple of times in scripture. In John 8:31 he says if we continue in his word, we are his disciples. And in John 13:35, he says his disciples love one another. That sounds a little like the Great Commandment, Love God and love others. Maybe, when we truly love God and others, we will lay down our lives, and take up our cross. What do you think?

  • What does it take to be a Disciple - Part 2 - Luke 6:40
The Greek word most often translated disciple is also translated differently in some translations in Luke 6:40. Mike looks at this passage today to examine discipleship from a different perspective. What does it mean to be a "pupil," and how might that change our perspective of ministry in the workplace?

  • What does it take to be a Disciple? - Luke 14:26
What does it take to be a disciple? Notice how sharp the demands of a disciple are in this passage. This is one of the very few times Jesus uses the word we translate to "disciple." He seems to be very exclusive. A disciple must be someone who does all of these difficult things. Mike heard about a book that seems to use this passage to explain how to become a disciple. Is this the passage we should use to define the role of a disciple?

  • Bonus Episode - Circumstances Romans 8:28

How does God "cause" all things to work together for good. Romans 8:28 says God actively works to make circumstances end up for our good. Circumstances aren't good. Our world is fallen. Bad things happen and they're the result of sin. Bad circumstances can be the direct result of a specific action, or they can be the result of our fallen world. You can't credit someone with a hurricane or a pandemic. Our world isn't fair. But when we trust God, everything that happens will end working together for good. Who do you trust? Focus your trust on him and watch him cause these circumstances work together for good.

  • Finding One’s Passion with Jordan Price, ep#24

In this week's episode of the Follower of One Podcast, we go back in time to a live interview on Facebook with Jordan Price. Jordan is the owner of Media Works, located in Broken Arrow, OK. He is an entrepreneur, Christ-follower, and content quality road-paver. Listen to the live show on this episode's weekly interview!

    Episode Breakdown:

    1:05 - Meet Jordan Price

2:05 - How Jordan got to owning Media Works

    7:20 - Jordan's mission ground

    12:45 - Creativity and Quality

23:10 - How to get in touch with Jordan

    Passion and God

Every single one of us has a passion for something. Usually, that passion is different from our neighbors or our colleagues but the one thing in common we all have is passion. In Jordan's story about his passions in this world, we learn that not every first passion is meant for us long term. Not every first goal we set is accomplished but God should be at the root of that passion, right? So, how are we able to change lanes without losing sight of what is most important? Well, we listen to God throughout the process.

    Good Question

Some good questions to ask yourself are: Is this really what God is calling me to do at this moment? I love doing what I am passionate about but has God paved a different path for me? What if I am falling out of love with my passion? God, could you give me some clarity on my next path? Once you start asking these questions, it might be easier to see just what God has in store for you!

    The Obstacle

As Christians in the workplace, we are all met with one consistent obstacle, our workplaces, (it might even be school or the home for some of you). We need to treat every place that we are spending our time in as a mission ground for God. Follower of One is about practically integrating faith in our everyday lives no matter where we are. Does your workplace feel like a mission ground? Does your school feel like a mission ground? It should! God simply says to go make Disciples, and so we shall. Seek it out in everyone and every place surrounding you!

    Shining Example

God is the creator of all things. In that creation, He purposefully made creativity as well. In the interview, Jordan speaks on how we, as creations of God, should be the shining light, the creativity, and the quality in the world. We are created in His image and therefore need to put the same passion and quality in our work that we would for Him. Are you being a shining example today? Do you preach the gospel and, if necessary, use words? How you act, feel, address, and unveil are all important aspects to integrating faith into your everyday life!
