  • The Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven

How does the Bible say we get the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven? Jesus tells us we must turn and become like children. What does it mean to turn? We spend so much energy trying to look like we have the answers, or trying to find our own way. Jesus encourages us to turn from listening to ourselves and begin listening to God like a child. Can we get to the place where we obey God? The place where people obey God, that's His kingdom. Can you enter His kingdom right now? Obey Him like a child and watch him work.

  • God Is For You
Do you think God is for you? Do you see him cheering you on and rooting for you? For many years, Mike didn't see God that way at all. But over time, by praising God and trusting Him, Mike is developing a different attitude. You can experience joy rather than fear when you consider that God is for you. He has a job for you regardless of your circumstances, too. Trusting God counters fear and makes us courageous to serve others so Jesus becomes visible.

  • Trust Jesus to Turn You and Others
When you screw up following Jesus, what do you do? Do you withdraw? Mike talks about how we're challenged to respond when we trust Jesus for our salvation. Jesus can restore us and He will also use our restoration as a way to draw others to Himself. David uses the same Hebrew word to show how God turns you and how we then help turn others.

  • How to Build Spiritual Strength

How do we build spiritual strength? Today is the start of our next Marketplace Mission Trip and we begin with prayer. Prayer is the beginning of everything. We build spiritual strength like we build physical strength, through trials and tribulations. We have to pray, trust God, and let Him build that strength in us. Pray for God to show you the ways you need to trust in Him more. Pray for Him to show you ways to show Him to your co-workers during this mission trip and come leave us a comment or send us an email and tell us about how God is working in you this week.

    Peaks and Valleys

Peaks and Valleys, used almost synonymously in metaphors. These two simple nouns represent much more than just two things. We have all experienced peaks and valleys (highs and lows) in life and that does not make us different. What makes us different is how we react to the challenges themselves. Are we going to choose to not fight? What is next for me if I can't seem to get back to where I was? These answers don't come easily but thankfully, God is always with us. Listening to this week's episode we see where, without much hope at all, God spoke to John and let him know that there was something greater in store for him. So great, that John survived an accident that seemed insurmountable. What is in store for you? Can you hear God now? The more we speak to Him and trust Him, the more we can lend our ears to His omniscient plans.

    How Has God Wired You?

How has God wired you? This is a really interesting question that John brings up in the podcast. While thinking about his next steps in life, it was a mentor (also a believer) who chose to bring a different light to the subject, "Why not let God lead you into what is next for you based on how He wired you?". Have you ever asked yourself how God has wired you? Everyone is meant to do something very specific in our lives - God has planned it that way. Yet, if we do not take a step back and focus on how God wired us in the first place, we might miss our calling altogether. "The peaks are filled with no air, it is then that we realize the valleys have the fruit in them, and not the heights".

  • You Give Them Something to Eat - Mark 6: 37

Why did Jesus tell the disciples to give food to the 5000 people, when he knew they didn't have any? Jesus was making a point. He calls us to be people who serve others. What we serve comes from God. Jesus even made sure each of the 12 disciples had a basket of food to carry away from this episode. Jesus wanted them to remember what we give counts. What do you give away each day? What would you give more of, if you knew Jesus would provide? Food, money, time, attention? Let Jesus use you today.

  • Take the Kingdom of God with You - Luke 10:8-9

What does it mean that the kingdom of God has come near? Jesus sent out his disciples and he tells them to preach and heal. If they were accepted they were to say the kingdom of God has come near. And if they were not welcomed they were to say the same thing. When you go to work, do you take the kingdom of God with you? How can you do that? A kingdom is where the king rules. If you obey Jesus, the kingdom is with you. You take it to work. Go to work and live your eternal life, obeying God and others will see the kingdom of God.

  • How to Live Your Eternal Life Now - John 5:24

Do you live your eternal life every day? Every translation of John 5:24 that I read says that when we believe in Jesus, we have eternal life. Every verb in this sentence is past tense. So if you have eternal life right now, do you live it? Do you walk in eternity while you're at work? You enter God's kingdom when you do what he says. Do you listen to him at work? Or do you treat him like a distant relative? Is your eternal life like a vacation home or a lake house you go to on the weekends?

  • How to Witness with Your Life - 1 Peter 2:12

Your actions matter. Do you witness with your life? When we practice excellent behavior around others, because we follow Jesus, God uses our behavior as a testimony to others. Even if they speak badly of us, deep down inside, they know differently. And God may use that conflict in their life. It may be when he visits them personally about trusting him. And it may be in the final judgment day. Either way, God will use your good deeds for his glory in his time.

  • Inspired and Profitable Part 2 - 2 Timothy 3:16-17
What do you do to generate a profit? How much time and energy goes into your effort? Notice how Paul tells Timothy the scripture is profitable. How is the scripture profitable for us? Mike examines how this passage shows us a process for growth. We learn God's will, we adjust our behavior, we take a new action and we develop disciplines for righteousness.
