  • Humility

Do you think of yourself as different from the people you're with? In many of my jobs,I felt like I didn't fit. I believed I was in a place where I was called to serve, but not in a place I would have chosen to be. I almost felt like I was in exhile. I was only there to make a living. If I had a choice, I'd rush back to the suburb and hang out with my Christian friends. But God challenges us to be one of them. I need to identify with them, more. Ask God to show you how to do this without separating yourself from Christ's body, too.

  • Use Gifts Anywhere

Our gifts are designed to be shared. God has given us each strengths or gifts. The gifts given to us by the Holy Spirit living in us are to be used wherever we are, not just inside the church. Our job isn't some lesser place to use our gifts, it may be the primary place our gifts bring glory to God. Your gifts are designed to make Jesus visible. Use your gifts wherever you can. Your spiritual gifts come from God but please, use them everywhere!

  • Have Sound Judgment

Do you compare yourself to others? God gives each person a measure of faith. God gives us each the faith we need. He uses us each differently to accomplish his goals. The temptation to compare ourselves to others comes from our enemy. Focus on God. Work on your relationship with Jesus and focus on him, He will use you and he will use those who are not like you. Remember he uses each of us, those we agree with and those we don't.

Find out how to partner with God in your daily work

To be an ambassador for God day-to-day means that you live out your faith in the workplace. There are so many different callings. You don’t have to be a pastor or missionary to be able to do God’s work. Ryan talks about the importance of partnering with God. It’s not a matter of trying to apply things you’ve simply memorized. It’s an interactive relationship with God where He helps you in everyday things. Listen now to hear examples from the Bible - people who not only prayed and received God’s help but had constant interaction with Him. Find out how God wants to be engaged with you in everything - including your work.

Learn how to join God in the work He’s doing around you

No matter what kind of work you’re involved in, God’s there. He has a specific plan for the relationships you will make and people you’ll influence. Your job is to represent Him and do what He has for you there so that He can be glorified. Ryan’s free downloadable eBook called “21 Days to a New Workplace You” is a jumpstart guide to faith at work. It takes the everyday things we should be doing as Christ-followers and teaches how to infuse those into our work. Listen to how it can change your perspective. You’ll find out how God is at work in every detail of your workday. You simply need to be aware of it.

In addition to the eBook, find out other resources available at YourFaithAtWork.org. Find his podcast on all apps. Ryan is also working on another book, a five-day video series, and webinars. In this episode, find out about these and more and how his ministry can help you grow in your walk with Jesus.

How do I figure out what my anointed calling is?

When you’re doing what you were created to do, it glorifies God. Even if you’re not necessarily talking about Jesus, God can use anything to draw others to Himself. Ryan points out that there’s a lot more to living for God than just talking about Him.

God used the book Anointed for Business to help bring clarity to what He wanted him to pursue. So many others from seminary were going into the pastorate, but he wasn’t drawn toward that. He always felt pulled toward business. Hear more about Ryan’s calling to help people live out their faith in their work. Listen to this episode to hear him talk about anointing for various positions - not only for those in ministry. Find out how your specific job can be used as kingdom work and how God cares about it.

Learn to recognize God and how to integrate your faith in the workplace

It’s easy to get caught up in habits and the way we do our jobs. That itself can become a barrier for us inviting God to be more part of our day. Ryan talks about our need for self-examination. As Christ-followers, evaluating ourselves is important so that we don’t get used to a certain mode of operation. Listen to how you can create new habits. Become sensitive to hearing from God and learn how to develop spiritual disciplines to help you integrate your faith at work. You’ll become more sensitive to what God is already doing.

Prioritize your relationship with Christ. Take the first step of making a small commitment - whether it’s to spend more time in prayer or read one chapter of your Bible daily. Find something you can do consistently and set your mind to stick with it. Learn to build that little habit and it will grow. Listen now to hear more about this. Then you’ll find that the more of God you have, the more you’ll want.

  • Renew Your Mind

How can we set our mind to be renewed? Mike talks about how we can train our brains to listen to God and to be available to him. How does our environment, the work world, keep us from walking with God? One way is to habitually do the same things every day so our minds are attentive to God and tuned to God's signal. A renewed mind is critical to making God visible in our workplace.

  • Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving keeps us in line with God. When we give God thanks and remember that he is the source of everything and not we ourselves, we take our rightful place in the world. We are ready to do the work God gives us. When we give thanks, we get into God's will, which is good for us. Remember how much God loves you and then thank him. His will is for your ultimate good.

  • Living Sacrifice

What does it mean to be a living sacrifice? What is a sacrifice anyway? We don't think too much about sacrifice the way the Jews did. They sacrificed animals all the time. For them sacrifice was real, necessary, painful and messy. When we punch in and go to work for God each day by praying, "Here I am, God. What do you want me to do today?" we become a living sacrifice.

  • Came to Serve

The disciples who walked with Jesus often jockeyed for position. They wondered where they would be in Jesus kingdom. But Jesus came to serve, not to be served. He wasn't about positional authority. Jesus turns our world upside down. When we serve others, we experience his joy. The Greek words translated servant are often translated minister too. When we serve others for Jesus sake, he becomes visible.

  • Your Light

Your light is God's light shining uniquely in and through you. Jesus says it's your light, your good works, and your Father in Heaven. He is telling us that our relationship with Him is special, it is unique. He is calling us to do these good works and show "our" light to others so that they will have no other explanation but to know that it is Him, in us. Think about and ask God to show you one unique thing you can do today that will show someone else God through what you are doing.

  • Recognize How God Can Use Your Faith at Work, with Chris Champion, Ep #6

    THE APP OF YOUR CHOICE

Chris is a follower of Christ who has a specific interest in helping people see how God can use their faith at work. He currently works for Corporate Chaplains of America (CCA) whose primary goal is to help business owners take care of their most valuable asset - their employees. In this episode, listen to Chris talk about how having chaplains in the workplace is probably the most valuable and most underutilized employee benefit. Also, listen to how his goals and those of CCA line up with Follower of One. We want to equip Christians to see themselves in the workplace for the purpose of serving people.

    Outline of This Episode
    • [0:57] Meet Chris Champion of Corporate Chaplains of America
    • [8:52] What’s the benefit of having a chaplain in the workplace?
    • [14:03] Find out how God’s at work in Phoenix
    • [18:38] Learn how the mission field at work is as important as going abroad
    • [24:52] Find your specific function in the Body of Christ
    • [28:00] Be aware of what God is doing in the workplace
How can chaplains in the workplace be a benefit?

The thought has occurred to me that perhaps we’ve expected too much from the local church and too little from individual Christians. Since our goal is to help equip every workplace believer to see themselves as a minister, it’s important to understand how having a chaplain in the workplace can be a great asset. Chris talks about how we’re all united in our call to the Great Commission. But outside of that, we are each uniquely called to different positions - secretary, plumber, electrician - the list goes on. Listen now to hear what a great opportunity believers have to work alongside a chaplain in their workplace. Together, they can make an amazing impact.

Why is connectivity between the local church and workplace ministries so important?

Chris is passionate about the unity of the Spirit. He speaks about the importance of more connectivity between the local church and workplace ministries. Instead of just being Sunday Christians, we can learn how to incorporate our walk in everyday life. In Phoenix, Chris witnessed how God orchestrated a group of people from various ministries and churches to come together. They have prayed for unity and the marketplace. They hope is to see God move in a mighty way. Listen to hear more about some of the ministries who participated in this exciting event.

Find out why unity is key and how we each play a part in the Body

Listen to Chris talk about how we should view our high calling and how this mindset can be a game-changer in our day-to-day walk. He points out how a lot is going on in the marketplace and we must realize that it’s the biggest mission field left in America. No matter what we’re doing, it has to be done with excellence to reflect the image of God.

In John 17:21, Jesus talks about the need for us to be ONE - to be united. This idea of unity doesn’t mean we all do the same thing. We’re united in our relationship with God, but how we carry that out differs. Listen to this episode to hear more about why unity is key and how we can function as one Body. Learn how Follower of One can help you figure out what your part is in the Body and how that plays out in your workplace.

Take notice of the faith at work movement

Some of you may be discouraged to watch the culture implode and it may seem like we’re in a losing battle. But be encouraged and be aware that God is on the move. He is working through various ministries across the country in the marketplace. He is connecting business owners with the faith at work movement. Take the challenge of going into your workplace as your mission field. Find out how Follower of One can help you live out your faith and let’s join together to make disciples of Christ.
