Paul, the Apostle, says he was crucified with Christ and his new life is a life in Jesus. What does it mean to live by faith? In your normal workweek do others see the life of Jesus in you? Mike talks about how the Follower of One daily activities help you live your life as if you have been resurrected with Jesus. Can you adopt Christ's attitude toward others? Will you let Jesus use you in someone else's life today?
Today we will be looking at 1 Peter 3:15. At the beginning of this verse, Peter tells us we must begin by honoring Jesus as holy or special - even as Lord. What is a Lord? What does it mean that we set Jesus apart as our Lord? Does that mean we follow Jesus like we would follow Him on Facebook? What takes place as we make Him our Lord? And what impact does the Lordship of Jesus make on your life? Mike talks about some of the day-to-day impacts of honoring Jesus as his Lord. What would Jesus have you do in the lives of the people you work with today?
What do you believe about God? Do you even believe that He exists? That's our first step. Then, as we follow Jesus we see that He is powerful and active. As we follow Him and seek after Him, we can see Him work. We receive joy and blessing today when we see God working. When we know something we have done made a difference we experience great joy. But that's not our only reward. How can you experience some of God's rewards? Listen to Mike for some practical tips for you while you work today.
Do you consider yourself eternally powerful? Jesus states a fact that we will receive power. Did you receive the Holy Spirit? Then, according to Jesus, you have the power. What does it take to understand and trust the power we have? This power is available to us when we join God in his work. When we align ourselves with God's interest in others, we experience His power. We see Him as He makes an eternal difference in others. And sometimes, He uses us, too!
What does it take to be a witness? Must you speak or are there other ways to be a witness? There is a difference between building a shed and being a builder. There's a difference between playing guitar and being a guitarist. Jesus tells us we will be witnesses. Like a builder or a musician, we must do it consistently, repeatedly, and well to gain the title. Jesus chose the passive voice to make a point. Your life shows the rest of the world what you think about Jesus. What does your life say?

In today’s episode, our guest shares some creative ways he has used to make a positive impact in his workplace. Michael Henry always had a desire to live out his faith every day but was unsure about mission trips or ministry opportunities he should take. That’s why he was so excited about Follower of One and the Marketplace Mission Trips. He’s participated in a couple of mission trips. These have helped him learn how to approach coworkers and move them closer to God without being intrusive. Listen now to hear how Michael became more intentional with his actions and how the mission trips have helped him live out his faith every day.
Outline of This EpisodeThrough the mission trips, Michael learned how to live out his faith daily and was especially impacted in his prayer life and in finding out how to serve others. Through the daily emails, he was encouraged to buy donuts for his team. Interestingly enough, Fridays in his workplace are known as “donut day.” But in a particular week during the mission trip, Michael brought a box of donuts in on a Wednesday. This completely blew the team away. Listen to the impact this box of donuts made on Michael’s coworkers and how he was able to see God work through this simple act of giving.
Join a Marketplace Mission Trip to help change your perspectiveSince participating with Follower of One and the mission trips, Michael noticed a heightened sense of awareness. He’s learned how to be a better listener and communicator. He tries to listen to the underlying meaning of their words, things that may be stressors at home and in their family life. He’s learned ways to find out how he can pray for people without coming right out and asking “How can I pray for you?” Find out more ways you can change your perspective about your workplace and see how God uses you. You’ll learn to see your coworkers and anyone you interact with through a different lens.
How to make a positive impact for Christ while traveling abroadMichael’s job as a process analyst allows him to travel abroad. He currently lives in the Bible belt where it’s commonplace to talk about Christianity. But while in Europe, he’s learned in that culture, they do not talk about personal things like religion. Many see the topic of religion as negative. Many have described Europeans like a coconut - a hard exterior shell, but soft on the inside. Listen to this episode now to find out how Michael has learned to crack that shell and make lifelong friends. Find out how he’s had God-led conversations that have made a positive impact on those he works with abroad.
Forget the “what-ifs” and JUST DO ITMichael says that Nike’s motto is the best encouragement he can give. If you’re afraid of offending someone in the workplace, he encourages you to JUST DO IT. God knows what’s going to happen in each scenario. Your goal can’t be to save everyone in your workplace. That’s God’s job. Your job is to love and serve people. Pay attention to what’s going on around you, and God is going to lead you to amazing opportunities. Be willing to be used by God in whatever way He sees fit. And the only way you’re going to hear from Him is by praying for your coworkers every day.
Connect with Michael Henry Jr.Do you hate your job? I have hated many jobs I've had. The Bible says, "All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty" - Proverbs 14:23. This tells us that even if we think we hate our job, the work we do brings profit. It brings profit to our family, it brings profit to our community, and it brings profit to our boss and co-workers. If we treat our job as working for God and knowing that He tells us that all work brings profit, we can bring new life to our current job. So...how about now, do you hate your job?
Where your treasure is, there is your heart. Where is your treasure? Do you store it up or do you give it away and trust in the Lord? Jesus called "The Rich Young Ruler" a fool because he did not consider what God wanted him to do with his riches but only what he wanted. Has God given you something that He wishes for you to give away? Where is your treasure?
Stop worrying. The Bible tells us not to worry about what we will wear or what we will eat and that to worry about these things is something the world wants us to do. We as Christians are to seek His kingdom and know that God knows what we need and by simply seeking His kingdom, we will have all we need. Sounds simple enough but we all know it is anything but simple. Let's talk about how we can all seek His kingdom a little more each day.
Do you ask God what He wants you to do with your life, how He wants you to spend your money, spend your time? The majority would answer a big, no, to this question. Don't you think He wants us to ask Him, to trust Him with our lives? The Rich Fool parable is a wonderful picture of this, let's read about it together.
