Having your Packaging and Eating it.
In this podcast the three participants will discuss what role brands can play to drive consumer behaviour to decrease consumer reliance on plastic. Whilst consumers are more knowledgeable than ever on the global environmental crisis, is this enough to impact consumer choice or are there more important drivers we can learn from behavioural science when it comes to consumers making that all important purchase decision?
The team will look at a real case study where Xampla and Gousto worked in partnership to launch the first edible stock cube wrapper. Reviewing consumer research pre and post launch, the participants will identify lessons learned and discuss the question, how do we get consumers to make positive purchasing decisions which are better for the planet? The team will provide helpful advice on the steps brands can take to change consumer behaviour, what works and what really doesn’t. They also discuss the question as to how much can we expect consumers to do and how much is it up to the brands to decrease our reliance on plastic?
Speakers are:
Hannah Pearse, Nutrition Business Development Manager , Xampla
Abigail Ryan, Sustainability Team, Gousto
Andreea Redfern, Behavioural Science Lead, Walnut Unlimited

Water: How looking closer at the basics can deliver wider results and benefits – FDF talk with Water Plus, the UK’s largest water retailer
From organisations working towards water-related targets in the food and drink sector, to reducing risks to operations and increasing efficiency – gaining more data around water use in a year is essential.
Ben Edmonds, who is one of the Senior Leaders at Water Plus, the largest water retailer in the UK, providing water and wastewater services to more than 710,000 customer supply points in England and Scotland, speaks to the FDF Water Policy Lead on the key things to keep in mind at your business.
Technical water experts at Water Plus have helped organisations of different sizes find the opportunities to cut water waste, running costs and risks to operations. Installing hundreds of data loggers, on single and at multiple locations, are helping sites gain greater tracking on water each day, through an online area provided through Water Plus - and identify savings.
Where less water needs to be moved at sites, or heated, then there are energy savings and a reduction in carbon emissions too.
In this podcast, you’ll hear how knowing what’s used where in a year at sites - and accessing it all easily online - is helping deliver wider benefits.
