Verse by verse exposition through the book of Hebrews. (Sermon also includes the reading and exhortation from the Lord's Table liturgy) Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. 9 Do not be carried about with various and strange doctrines. • Our Daily Bread
It is of critical importance to daily be nourished and fed with the Word of God if we are to live and not die. Jesus taught us to pray, "Give us this day our daily bread." When tempted to turn a stone into bread, Jesus said, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word of God." Isaiah cries out, "Why do you...labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live...

  • Iconium, Lystra, and the Return to Antioch
And in Lystra a certain man without strength in his feet was sitting, a cripple from his mother's womb, who had never walked. 9 This man heard Paul speaking. [c]Paul, observing him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed, 10 said with a loud voice, "Stand up straight on your feet!" And he leaped and walked. 11 Now when the people saw what Paul had done, they raised their voices, saying in the Lycaonian language, "The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!" 12 And Barnabas they called [d]Zeus, and Paul, [e]Hermes, because he was the chief speaker. 13 Then the priest of Zeus, whose temple was in front of their city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates, intending to sacrifice with the multitudes. 14 But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard this, they tore their clothes and ran in among the multitude, crying out 15 and saying, "Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men with the same nature as you, and preach to you that you should turn from these useless things to the living God, who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and all things that are in them, 16 who in bygone generations allowed all nations to walk in their own ways. 17 Nevertheless He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness." 18 And with these sayings they could scarcely restrain the multitudes from sacrificing to them.

  • Homeward Bound: What Do You Crave?
Healthy foods scarcely benefit a person who's already ingested poison. So the Christian who attends a weekly Bible study, hears a sermon every week, and enjoys biblically-sound podcasts hinders spiritual growth if the heart is already poisoned. Poisoned? With what? "Therefore, laying aside all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander..." 1 Peter 2:1 (LSB). All these toxins can show up in relationships with other believers and—if left unchecked—stunt our spiritual growth. Yes, the word of God is powerful to change us, yet our nourishment is impeded by savored sins. That's why Peter links putting away sinful attitudes with an eager appetite for Scripture. A growing hunger for God's Word belongs alongside a growing love for His people. "... like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation...," 1 Peter 2:2. This Lord's Day, we'll turn to 1 Peter 2 and its commands—as well as God's provision—for growing toward spiritual maturity. Join us as we consider, "Homeward Bound: What Do You Crave?" Prepare for Sunday: Read and meditate on 1 Peter 1:22-2:3. How do attitudes such as ill-will, envy, and insincerity affect your appetite for truth? In what ways do Christians settle for impure spiritual nourishment—teaching or counsel that sounds biblical but distorts God's Word? How, specifically, can you become better prepared to take in, and benefit from, the Word of God?

  • Devo 132: Hiding God's Word
This instructional sermon outlines a practical, five-step method for internalizing Scripture, anchored in Psalm 119:11. The process involves selecting a verse, reading it slowly, underlining key terms, reflecting on their meaning, and praying the text back to God. The speaker emphasizes contemplation as the final step, comparing the absorption of God's Word to the digestive process of food becoming part of one's identity. By consistently applying this discipline, believers allow Scripture to dwell richly in their hearts, transforming their decision-making and character from the inside out. The tone is pastoral and encouraging, assuring listeners that this simple practice is accessible to all and leads to a deeper, more authentic relationship with God.
