"I think we should have you in front of every young child in every Boston classroom"

During the month of February For Love with James podcast is dedicated to celebrating Black History Month. In this episode, James is joined by Lydia Edwards, a member of the Massachusetts Senate. 

Edwards is a woman who is committed to the wellbeing of those less fortunate. She was raised by her mother who served in the United States Millitary, and her mother's combination of "power and grace" helped kindle the fire within Lydia. She went on to aquire multiple degrees from Fordham University, Washington College of Law, and Boston University School of Law. From there she begun her journey in law and politics, eventually becoming a senator with the goal of making her world more equitable one day at a time. 

Her incredible talents and her caring nature make Lydia a fantastic person to have as a leader of the march to equality. Her passion and drive for uplifting communities will surely usher in happy days for those who need it most.

"You can't be what you can't see"

During the month of February For Love with James podcast is dedicated to celebrating Black History Month. In this episode, James is joined by Evandro Carvalho, Executive Director, Boston Human Rights Committee.

Carvalho is a man who exemplifies hard work and conviction. Born in Cape Verde, his skills were cultivated at the University of Massachusetts Amherst then Howard University School of Law. He became a lawyer but that's not where his work ended. He became a district attorney and was even the 5th Suffolk Seat of the Massachusetts House of Representatives in order to make changes to lift up others. His vision is to have the ability to look back on life and say "I was able to move the needle forward for people.” 

He remains optimistic that he can make the changes that marginalized people need, utilizing his love for the world around him to help the next generation in his community blossom.

In this episode, James discusses the new years resolutions that he and others have created, the most popular of which tend to be resultions to increase the health and wellbeing of oneself. While many people make these resolutions, very few are able to stick to them. The YMCA has options to help you attain those wellness goals regardless of your ability to pay. We're running these programs and courses because it is our mission to assist all in their journey to achieve their fullest potential.
