The New Zealand world of wine is full of colourful people who are all passionate about their craft. Kirsten is joined by Eva Pemper of EP Wines Ltd in Marlborough - her one-woman boutique business focusing on premium wine. Eva originates from Croatia - a country that has been making wine for many centuries. She is humbled to follow in the footsteps of some of Aotearoa's first winemakers who were also from Croatia. They settled here in the mid to late 1800s. Of course, today's world of wine is a different one to back then and Eva talks about why she loves living and working in Aotearoa.

The New Zealand world of wine is full of colourful people who are all passionate about their craft. Kirsten is joined by Edward Donaldson, marketing manager of Pegasus Bay Winery in Waipara. This iconic New Zealand winery started out as a hobby for Edward's parents and today the whole family is involved in the successful business rated as one of the country's top wineries. Edward talks about the early days, the challenges of working with your siblings and partners and of course the delicious wine made by his brother, winemaker Matt Donaldson. We also talk about Pegasus Bay's second label, Main Divide, which has become a huge success in its own right!

Kirsten is joined by Edel Everling of Johanneshof Cellars in Marlborough - a boutique winery focusing on aromatics and sparkling wine. Edel is a trained winemaker from Germany, in fact she grew up in the famous wine region of Rheingau and has been involved in the "wine industry" since early childhood. She first came to New Zealand in the 1980s and later moved here to set up Johanneshof Cellars named after her father. It’s been a BIG adventure for her, moving here and setting up her own business with Kiwi Warwick Foley, and although it has at times been hard work and up hill – she has no regrets. Edel is one of New Zealand's most experienced woman winemakers and her journey is fascinating.

Kirsten is joined by Brian Bicknell from MAHI Wines in Marlborough. Brian is well-known in both NZ and overseas and has had a fun and great career to date. He helped Michael Seresin set up Marlborough's first organic winery, Seresin, in 1996 and stayed on till 2006 when he left to fully concentrate on MAHI. He believes in minimal intervention when it comes to winemaking, and he loves hosting dinners and tastings. MAHI remains a family affair with Brian's son Max having joined the business.

Kirsten is joined by Hawke's Bay winemaker Ant MacKenzie - a man on a mission and with some very interesting takes on winemaking. He has a few labels of his own and does consulting work for a small number of wineries. He loves what he does and says ""doing something you love is not considered work so the lines are blurred""... Outside of work he enjoys spending time with family and friends and bikes have become an obsession. Like many winemakers, he has spent time doing vintages overseas – and especially Spain has had quite an influence on some of his winemaking styles. Prior to going out on his own in 2013, Ant had a varied career as a winemaker and general manager for wineries such as Framingham, Spy Valley, Dry River and Te Awa.

Kirsten is joined by Jane Hunter from Hunter's Wines in Marlborough. Jane is a legend within the NZ wine industry and was one of the pioneers founding the industry back in the 1980s. She is a viticulturist and owner of Hunter's Wines which her late husband Ernie established in 1979. Jane talks about her life in wine, all the accolades she and her wines have received, and looks to the future in collaboration with her two nephews whom now work for her company.

Kirsten is joined by Rudi Bauer, winemaker and co-owner of Quartz Reef in Central Otago. Originally from Austria, he talks about European vs New Zealand wine culture and why he chose to live and work here. Quartz Reef is a biodynamic winery with a focus on particularly sparkling wine and Pinot Noir, and Rudi explains the differences between NZ sparkling wine and Champagne. He is a pioneer and was one of the first to make wine in Central Otago. Back in the late 1980s and early 1990s he had no idea that Central Otago would become such a significant wine region in New Zealand, paving the way for great cool-climate Pinot Noir.

Kirsten is joined by the one and only - colourful Tim Turvey, co-founder and co-owner of Clearview Winery in Hawke's Bay. Tim is widely known for his quirky sense of humour, great hospitality and delicious wines. He has a love affair with oaky Chardonnay and enjoys all aspects of "the good life". He talks about his 35 years of being Mr. Clearview and a new and fun collaboration with his daughter Katie, also a winemaker.

Kirsten is joined by New Zealand Winemaker of the Year 2021 Jules Taylor from the Marlborough-based Jules Taylor Wines established 20 years ago and focusing on top quality wines. Having spent several years and vintages in Italy she is heavily inspired by the Italian way of life. She is also quite the advocate for Sauvignon Blanc, wanting to ensure consumers are aware that there is so much more to this grape: “... Marlborough winemakers are exploring different styles of sauvignon blanc ... It is a variety that is very versatile, and it can be exciting and vibrant, as well as sexy and understated,”.

Kirsten is joined by Blair Walter from the iconic Felton Road Winery in Central Otago. One of New Zealand's most famous wineries. Felton Road is a biodynamic winery and Blair talks about the principles behind this philosophy. He also explains the challenges winemakers in Central Otago, NZ's southernmost wine growing region, face, the region's famous Pinot Noit Celebrations - and whether to age wine or not.
