In a much-read article in Forbes.com –“How To Become A CEO”— fellow contributor Christian Stadler presented a sensible, research-based summary of career steps to the top job: pursuing specific education, choosing particular functional paths, and developing personal qualities like “drive and ambition.

According to Fidelity Investments‘ Evaluate a Job Offer Study, millennials are willing to take on average a $7,600 pay cut for improved work-life quality. Prioritizing the quality of your work and life over money is admirable but it doesn’t have to be either/or. With proactive and thoughtful career planning, you can manage your career so it meets both your work-life quality and compensation requirements.

Working women pay a high price simply for being female. Over the course of a 40-year career, a woman will earn upwards of $430,000 less than her male counterpart, according to a recent analysis. And that’s if she happens to be white. For African-American, Latina, and Native American women, the losses are even steeper. A new study on the state of wage inequality shows that the pernicious gender pay gap can start with the very offer of a job.

For many years I’ve been traveling around the world giving speeches and discussions on the future of corporate learning. One of the points I point out is the fact that today learning is part of economic survival for most of us. If we don’t stay current, up to date, and continuously re-skilled in our professions (regardless of what they are), we fall behind.

Companies are spending a ton of money trying to figure out how to attract and engage the millennials, when all a long they’ve had the answers right in front of them. A recent article in the Harvard Business Review, written by Bruce Pfau, titled, What Do Millennials Really Want From Work, is quite revealing. Dick and Jane are the same age, earned the same college degree, have four years of work experience, are employed by the same company and hold the same jobs (same title). The only difference? Dick makes $50,000 per year and Jane makes only $39,500. Tomorrow is Tuesday, April 12 – also known as Equal Pay Day – and it symbolizes how far into this year that Jane must work to earn the same amount that Dick earned in 2015.

To create this list, MSCI ESG Research screened more than 2,500 publicly-traded non-financial American companies with market caps of $250 million or more to identify the 100 that most “consistently demonstrated transparent accounting practices and solid corporate governance.

Companies in the S&P 500 are expected to report a 9.1% decline in first-quarter profits, according to FactSet, which would be the worst year-over-year decline since 2009. It’s also a far cry from the 0.7% rise in profits that was anticipated before the New Year.
