I've been talking about "Forces" of Business Transformation for many years. The ebbs and flows of business, technology, consumer sentiment, and other factors keep us busy leading our companies to the next wave to surf. Most people looked at me and asked "What do you mean 'Forces'?" Well, I recently discovered Professor Adrian Bejan earlier this year and couldn't be more excited to find someone else who speaks much more fluently that I about this fascinating subject called Constructal Law! And I'm very humbled that he gladly joined me on this podcast! More to come as I integrate his work in to mine!
Adrian Bejan (MIT, 1971, 1972, 1975) is an American professor and discoverer of the constructal law of design evolution in nature. He is J. A. Jones Distinguished Professor at Duke University. In this episode, I'll cover the top mindsets for software, infrastructure, & cybersecurity needed to run an effective Hybrid Workforce.
In this episode, I'll cover the 5 top attributes (plus a bonus!) of ideal leadership and the 5 top attributes of ideal culture needed to run an effective Hybrid Workforce.
Many forces and pressures have been building and creating a desire for remote work, which is the topic of today’s episode. When you have a culture of mutual respect, trust, a clear and simple strategy, and outcome-based work, it doesn’t matter if your workforce is co-located or distributed around the globe. A culture that celebrates the remote workforce opens itself to a greater pool of top talent which could greatly improve the profitability of the company.
When I was thinking about who to interview for this podcast, I couldn’t think of a better person than Bernie Spang, who I worked for on a remote team for a little over 2 years at the turn of the century. Bernie ran the WebSphere Studio Tools Marketing team that was part of the WebSphere Middleware Marketing team that was a part of the IBM Software Group. He currently is Program Director, Watson AI-powered virtual assistants, IBM.
Karen Rands experience with finance and innovation started with her career at IBM and the many projects she was involved in to introduce IBM’s innovations to the market and to finance the dot.coms that wanted to do business with IBM. However, it wasn’t until she left IBM that she discovered the secret world of angel investing and how startups get started. With the release of her best selling book, Insides Secrets to Angel Investing, and the syndication of her podcast The Compassionate Capitalist Podcast©, Karen has the methods and means to create and lead the Compassionate Capitalist Movement™ and be the catalyst for true economic democratization of the capital markets and the American Dream.

One of the biggest mistakes that companies make with their products and services is not testing various target markets BEFORE they build new products or features. Marketing serves as eyes and ears in the market to determine where the magnetic attractions are and begin to create marketing gravity around those features that resonate with the market.
I interview Bob Muscat, a Marketing and Business Transformation expert, who has developed a unique approach to a concept known as 80/20, where 20% of your customers deliver 80% of your value. (And 4% of your customers cost you over 50% of your overhead!)
CEOs and Product executives would be well served by understanding this business practice sourced from the Pareto principle.
