Grounded In the Psalms
The Psalms have provided some of the most favourite reading in the Bible. God has spoken through these Psalms to give comfort in time of grief, courage in time of struggle, guidance in time of decision making, and challenge in time of drifting.
The Psalms are not just Old Testament. They are prominent in the New Testament. Jesus said, "All things that are written about Me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and Psalms, must be fulfilled." Luke 24:44 And so they are.
THE PSALMS SPEAK TO US. We cannot read very far in the Psalms without drawing the conclusion that the writer has been reading our mail, emails and texts. How can it be that after centuries, we find a writer who expresses our thoughts and fears, our inner most feelings and hopes? Must be the Word of God.
THE PSALMS SPEAK FOR US. In was Athanasius, a church leader in the Fourth Century who declared, "The Psalms have a unique place in the Scripture because most of Scripture speaks to us, while the Psalms speak for us." Many of us have prayed the words of the Psalms, finding them the best expression of our souls' desires. Must be the Word of God.
You are invited to join us this summer, as we ground ourselves in the Psalms. They always point us up to the greatness of our God.
