"I'm happy in my singlehood and have a desire for a Christ-following man. I've been divorced for 6 years from a toxic marriage. I still have fears about finding the right man for me that is on the same spiritual path as me. How do I overcome those fears? - Angie
The Bible tells us to "fear not". This command does not come from God because He expects us to never experience fear. The emotional experience of fear is a physical sensation that helps us in survival situations. The key is to teach our brains to recognize real dangers and stop reacting to imagined fears.
Fear can be paralyzing or it can put us into fight or flight mode. When we are scared we have a tendency to cancel plans, avoid confrontations and be defensive.
In today's episode, I'll share 10 ways to help you overcome fear.
The first is counterintuitive. To win the battle over fear we must stop vilifying fear. It's not a bad thing.
Secondly, we can learn to more accurately identify what we are really afraid of.
Third, we can pause and learn what our fear is there to tell or teach us. There are often great revelations to be discovered in the face of fear. So rather than continuing to avoid it, I want to encourage you to befriend it. This simple act is essential to neutralizing its power over you.
Next, we will talk about take about letting go of the fears surrounding your God-given desires. Rather than wishing for something we'll talk about how to get your brain on board with achieving your goals.
This episode is loaded with quick, powerful, and Christ-centered ways to help you move through fear and embrace your God-given desires. I can't wait to share them with you.
Also, I want you to consider how much time you spend on your phone. Go check your activity data and decide if that's the amount of time you want to continue to spend scrolling this summer, or whether you might like to take a digital break instead.
